Questions about Scheduled C-Sections
DH and I switched OBs (we moved-I loved my old OB ) and we have to still discuss this with the new OB, but this is what my old OB told me and I wanted to know if any BTDT moms had this.
Due to some preexisting back issues, I was told that I cannot receive an epidural. (I have two herniated discs-L4-L5 and L5-S1 and the disc between L4-L5 slipped out of my spinal column and into cartilage). I had lumbar epidurals for the pain, but still I was told that I am not a candidate for an epi. This would mean either 1. A vaginal birth with no drugs or 2. a C-Section under general anesthesia. At the time of this consult, my OB thought that I should have a scheduled C when the time came, because of another medical condition that I have.
DH and I are going to discuss this with the new OB when we have our appointment Wednesday, but I wanted to know if anyone else had or will have a scheduled C with general anesthesia. Is it really bad? I am very upset about the idea because I at least wanted to be coherent for our DC's birth. Do they allow DH to stay in the room during the birth? And last, does anyone else have the same or similar back issue, and if so, were you told the same thing or can you still get an epi? Sorry for the long question, but it is really bothering me!

Re: Questions about Scheduled C-Sections
MY sil has very similair issues to you and she had to have general anesthesia.
Unfortunatly your DH wouldn't be allowed in once your completly out.
For her, it wasn't too bad. She had an easy recovery. I hope yorus is the same
