Questions for all of my brilliant ladies!
I know I will get all the answers to these questions when I go to the RE in August but I figured maybe one of my fellow brilliant ttc ladies would know...
I havent gotten a period in 7 months. In order to take an hsg test (if this is the next step), I have to take provera to bring on a period. Now...provera does not make one ovulate, so I am wondering how the hsg will show if my tubes are open or not?? Essentially the provera will give me a "fake" cycle...so how will they be able to tell anything. Also...how will they measure my levels through blood work? Does it matter that it will be a "fake" cycle?? Will hormones still measure right if the period is brought on by meds? I just dont get it!

My doc told me that if Provera didn't bring on a period then I was preggo. What did yours say???
I did all the blood work first and he said to try the Provera/Clomid combo first, then move to HSG/IUI next. But some other TTC girls had the HSG/IUI process first, then added Clomid.
I guess it depends on your specific issues.

Yes provera always brings on my periods...but they are in general a medicine induced period meaning you dont ovulate when you get it. Therefore, I dont understand what an hsg is going to do for me in a situation like this? I also dont know how they are going to test certain levels when I am not ovulating at all.

In regards to seeing if your tubes or open are not which is what the HSG is for, it does not matter if you ovulated or not, in the case of this test the two are unrelated.
As for your bloodwork. Once again, regardless if its a natural cycle or a forced cycle it is still important to learn where some of the horomones are in your body. Some of the things they need to learn the levels of is
Progesterone (P4)
Estrogen (E3)
FSH
LH
By doing these tests they can learn which levels are abnormal and are the root of your annovulation.
