Quick Daycare rant

Anyone else sick ALL THE TIME?
DS started in Jan and I have spent more time being sick these past few months than healthy.
The thing is they are immaculate! The clean all the toys, seats, blankets daily.
I'm really sick of it.. no pun intended.Chat Icon

Re: Quick Daycare rant

Yup! Our DS started daycare in July '08 (he was 14 mos old) He had an ear infection every month until Feb '09 when we had surgery to have tubes put it.

While he has not had an ear infection since 9knock on wood), he very frequently has a runny nose (clear) and/or a cough! The Ped says it's all daycare related.

OMG YES! Within 4 days of DS being in daycare he came down with pneumonia! Since then he...ok WE have all been sick monthly. Currently we're battling something together. The two of us were up ALL night coughing in unison...Chat Icon

My DH has a theory about sick kids.. he says baby germs are like super germs. He never got sick before DD, since then he's had some of the worst illnesses ever in his life. He swears that the germs kids pass on are extra strength.

Seriously! DH & I were rarely sick. Now I feel like we're rarely healthy.

It doesn't help that I also go in everyday at lunch to feed DS in daycare. So being in there listening to them all coughing, watching their little noses run I know sooner or later it's going to his DS & I.Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH calls DS a human petri dish.

On DS' first day of daycare (he only goes parttime, 8 days a month), he caught that awful stomach flu. DH and I both came down with it at the exact same time. DS missed 3 days of daycare because it took him 6 days to recover.

He went back for 2 days (in a row) and then got a cold...

We've had one good week so far since he started last month.

Re: Quick Daycare rant

i hear ya! It does get better though. DS is in his 2 year of daycare and although he gets sick pretty frequently, its not nearly as often as when he first started.

Re: Quick Daycare rant

Yup... I can't stand it! I feel like he's always got boogers or a bad cough. THe daycare is very clean and all. I am lucky he hasn't been so bad, but I hear him cough then I drop him off at daycare and hear 2 other kids with that same exact cough Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Quick Daycare rant

DS was sick every other month for the first four months (colds and cough) but after that, he was never sick (knock on wood) - the dr. says that kids in daycare won't be sick when they get to school b/c they already went through it during daycare! I know how stressful it is, especially having to take off work.

Re: Quick Daycare rant

I started a thread on this last year.

We started daycare in October. First Winter, at the doctor's office every 2-3 weeks. I pretty much got everything he got. Chat Icon

This year was winter #2, still sick frequently, but not as bad as last year, much fewer visits to the doctor. I got most of what he got. Hoping next winter will be a breeze. Chat Icon
