Daycare moms.. quick question
I dropped DS off at daycare today for the first time!! Anyway..when we checked up on him they said he napped from 8:35-9:05 only 1/2 hour.
Obviously that's a really short nap for him. So do I have to expect this since it's a new environment for him and that eventually he will get in the groove and sleep longer right? Did this happen to your DC? How long until your child adjusted?
he is 12 weeks.

You poor thing!
Yes, it takes them some time. I try to think in these terms, How would I sleep away from home my home, next to a bunch of strangers.
it WILL get better

I can't help much since Owen has been a cat napper since he was a month old.
I seem to remember that Claire slept well at daycare so maybe it is just a transitional thing?

He is adjusting to a new atmosphere...new noises and smells My DD didn't really nap as long as usuall when she 1st started day care either. After about 2 weeks, she was napping longer.

Re: Daycare moms.. quick question
First I know how hard it is...
He needs to adjust. However, with that said....my DD has been in daycare for 7 months and will not nap there at all. Maybe on a good day, she'll nap for 20 minutes.

Re: Daycare moms.. quick question
Hang in there! It took DS a couple of weeks to get into a routine at daycare, but once he did, he was a very happy and well-rested boy!

Yup, it will just take some time for him to adjust....try not to worry (easier said than done, I know).

Re: Daycare moms.. quick question
It took maybe a week but he still has "off" days sometimes. We started him at 13 weeks.

Re: Daycare moms.. quick question
It takes some adjusting
For Mason it was exactly a week. He ate on sched (he started at 3 mons so wasn't on food yet), but was off with napping. The next week I took him they said he was a whole different baby. He was smiling and babbling and doing a lot more. Then his naps progressively got longer.
Now he's 8.5 months old and there's no sched with his nap. Some days it's one short nap so then I know he'll sleep in the car or it's two good naps and he's up with me. He'll adjust and it'll happen a lot faster than you think
