quick vent
why do people feel that it's ok to have personal conversations on the company phone during company hours?
yes, i know, an emergency is an emergency... so forth and so on...
but some people talk about some of the most personal and/or embarrassing things while on the company phone... a phone line, that by the way, can be listened in on... because we work customer service. oh oh, and their voice carries... so we all know that her husband has the runs and need to go to the dr and that she hasn't paid her bills on time because creditors are calling the office.
i just don't get it
ok, vent over

Re: quick vent
i HATE that.
there is a woman in our office who talks to her college-attending teenaged daughter at least once a day and the whole conversation is her yelling at the girl for doing this or not doing that. i DON'T need to hear about your family drama!!! i am working!! (or on LIF but she doesn't know that!)

Re: quick vent
I make personal calls from work - it's hard to take care of personal business when I am in my office during business hours. I try to be as discreet as possible but I dont really have an alternative.

Re: quick vent
Last week on the other side of my cube wall, a co-worker spent most of the day LOUDLY on the phone with her daughter, Medco, United Healthcare and her ex-husband because the 20 year old daughter freaked out when she picked up her birth control pills and the co-pay was $60. She also asked how much her birth control costs.
There were just sooooooooooooo many things wrong with it all ...
