? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
At my 31w 1d sono the tech said that LO is weighing approx. 4lbs 1oz.
If you can remember, what was your LOs estimated weight at around 32 weeks and actual birth weight?
Specifically anyone with a baby 8lbs or less?
And did you have a or ?

I never did a sono at 32 wks. I went in @ 41 weeks, he was at 9.5lbs. C sec two days later, 8lb12oz.
They are just guessing. Nothing is set in stone.

Re: ? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
Yeah I know. I'm just getting a little worried now because I really want a vag birth... I've never had surgery before and c-sections scare me more than labor. I'm also petite so I keep thinking how is this kid gonna fit through me?? At this rate, we could be talking 9 pounds which would likely need a c-section, right?

Re: ? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
I had the opposite problem- baby was measuring around 3 lbs and then at 35 weeks 4 lbs and at 37 weeks also 4 lbs. They thought the baby had stopped growing inside me and i needed a c-section b/c DD was "too small" to go through labor and also she was breech - she was born at almost 38 weeks at 5.6! They were off by a lot!

Re: ? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
I'm going through this now, at 32 weeks she was measuring 3.8 lbs and they thought that was way too small!!!! DD1 was born at 6lb 10 oz at 39.5 weeks so I make avg size babies, I don't think this baby will be any different!

Re: ? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
Question ????? Sorry to but into your topic....but i am gonna be 32 weeks next tuesday and and on bed rest ...just got out of hospital with preterm contractions for a week...i guess i can go at any time but they never mentioned the baby could be too small if my water breaks anytime soon to do a vaginal birth? If she comes this early is it a def c section situation?

at 32 weeks my DS was said to be over 5.5 lbs. He was born at 40 weeks 4 days weighing 10 lbs 2 ozs.
I had a growth sono by a specialist at 31 weeks(because OB thought the tech was wrong when she said 10 1/2 pounds) The specialist said the baby was slightly over 5lbs at 31 weeks and said that she would be 10lbs 3 ounces at 40 weeks and 9lbs 3oz if they took her at 38 weeks. He was dead on. She was 9lbs 3oz at 38 weeks.
They are highly inaccurate and it depends on who does it.

at my 32 week sono was measuring about 3lbs 9oz. she was said to be on the lower end growth wise and i had low amniotic fluid and ended up developing preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. i delivered at 33w1d and she weighed 3lbs 8oz at birth.

my OB would say that's not necessarily true - that research shows that the size of the baby is rarely the reason for a c-section. I'm only 5' and have a small frame - DD was 8 lbs, 10 oz and I had a successful vaginal delivery. I think she was estimated around 4 pounds I think at 32 weeks - we were right on target all along for an 8-9 lb baby and the measurements were accurate for me, but they can be off by up to 2 lbs and were for my husband's cousin and my sister-in-law, both of whom were induced early due to size and ended up having c-sections and small babies - they were WAY off on the measurements.

Re: ? re: LOs weight @ 32 weeks vs actual birth weight
I didn't give birth yet but @
32 weeks-4lbs 14 oz 36 weeks-6ilbs 14 oz 39 weeks-8lbs 5oz
Don't know how accurate they will ultimately, but her growth seems to be consistent, and the Dr's keep telling me she's "not a small baby" Mt Dr. did say that there is not such thing as a too big baby, and that they would not induce for size. At 10lbs they would offer me a c-section, but that worse case I could try for vaginal, and if it didnt work I'd wind up with a c anyway!
Im hoping for a natural vaginal birth, so I hope everything works out!!!
