Real Estate Agent Question - Selling your home
So I know the market is pretty crappy right now, but we DH and I are not happy with our selling agent & company at all. They always screw up the times of showings, they have only done 1 open house in 3 months, and the agent barely ever calls to keep us updated on what's going on. We are so discouraged!! Anyway, does anyone know if we can just stop using them and go to a different agency??

OMG! i would totally fire them. that is unacceptable! yes, you can ask for a conditional (or unconditional) release of contract. if they do not agree to it, unfortunately, you have to wait it out. Also, you can just tell them (which i did) take me off the market. that way when you re-list with a better agent, your house appears "new".
sorry you have gotten such awful treatment. one open house in three months? sheesh. where are you located?

Re: Real Estate Agent Question - Selling your home
Thanks. The house is in Selden. It's such a big house, on a huge piece of property and every other week she calls telling us we should lower the price to get more traffic. We had more traffic when the house was at it's highest!!

I would definitely fire them!
Don't forget, this is a slower time of year for home sales. It starts to pick up next month. Good luck!

Do not just go and fire them without reading your agreement with them. Im sure there is some sort of clause about breaking the contract......by just firing them you are opening yourself up to a possible lawsuit.
I would have a sit down with them....This is also the slow time in the market and things pick back up next month...
When is the agreement up with the the agent?

Re: Real Estate Agent Question - Selling your home
Thanks everyone. DH and I are just getting so extremely frustrated. We definitely didn't do enough homework when we hired this agent. That's our own fault.

Re: Real Estate Agent Question - Selling your home
Call the broker! The agent is most likely not authorized to do the release
And fm me the listing...I am doing an open house in coram all weekend and if my house doesn't work for someone- I will tell them about yours
I always end up showing other houses after my open house! You never know!

Re: Real Estate Agent Question - Selling your home
Find out who the BROKER is. Call and ask for an UNCONDITIONAL release.
If they don't release you, tell them you will report the broker to the state.
