Re: Real tree or fake?
We do real... have made a tradition of going out east to cut one down - lasts for such a long time and smells fabulous!

Real tree or fake?
Real tree up until we had DS, now it's a fake one until he's a little older.

Re: Real tree or fake?
I grew up on fake, but when DH and I got our own home, we switched to real and haven't looked back. It's now a tradition for us to get it every year the day after Thanksgiving and to spend the long weekend decorating the house.
When dd is old enough, we'll probably go to a farm and chop our own down too

Real tree or fake?
DH insists on real bur, I prefer fake. I grew up with fake, it's easier to hang heavier ornaments on a fake tree and it doesn't make a mess or require daily upkeep (which I typically am placed in charge of and forget to do).

Re: Real tree or fake?
Our tree is fake.
Would love a real one, but we like to put our tree up early (usually Thanksgiving weekend or right after), and DH is always concerned about it drying out, shedding pine needles, etc.
But I don't mind a fake one. That's what I always had growing up, and our old apartment in the city was so hot and dry that a real tree was an impossibility (space-wise, too).
After we moved into our house out here, we invested in a very expensive, but very nice, realistic looking fake tree (from Hick's), and I am always happy with how it looks.

Real. We are actually going to cut our own tree down this year for the first time. I am pretty excited about it!

Re: Real tree or fake?
I prefer a real one - love the smell of fresh pine, but DH grew up with fake and due to our dog and my ILs dog, I have opted for the fake as well.
That's what they make pine scented candles for!

Real tree or fake?
Fake tree all the way. I'm way too lazy to get a real one every year and to constantly clean up after the falling needles. Plus with a toddler and a cat it seems really impractical.

Re: Real tree or fake?
We always did real. Then last year, we got a fake tree. I grew up with a real tree so it was a difficult decision for me.
What sold me? I put my tree up either Thanksgiving morning or the day after! I love having it up for that long.

Re: Real tree or fake?
I grew up with only fake trees, then after DH and I got married and moved to NJ he wanted to get a real tree. This is what he grew up with and since i didnt really had a place to store a fake one, I caved.
Now I love real trees and been getting them every year for the past 6 years.

Re: Real tree or fake?
We do a real tree every year. I hate, hate, hate it. We've lost ornaments from weak branches, needles all over, remembering to water the tree 2x a day.
This year with the dog, I'm hoping we go fake.

Re: Real tree or fake?
We love both for different reasons, so we decided we will do a real one every few years, and the fake one the rest of the years. I loved the tradition growing up picking out the tree etc, so i want my kids to have that!

Real tree or fake?
I grew up with real and can't bring myself to go fake. Many years we would make a big trip of it, drive out to the country (we lived in PA) to a Christmas tree farm and cut our own. It was freezing and my Dad would take forever to pick the perfect one but they are fun memories.
I really want to eventually get a good fake tree so we can have a real tree in the great room and a fake tree will all silver ornaments in the living room. One of these years I'll convince DH that we need a second tree. . .
