really dumb question: has anyone gotten the pertussis vaccine for themself recently??
I ask b/c i work in an elementary school in a district that seems to have pertussis going around (well 2 cases so far-but enough for me)
would i ask my children's pediatrician for the vaccine for myself or my own doctor??

Im thinking your own doc. I got the vaccine but wile I was still in the hospital after birth.

I got it last month from my child's pediatrician. I figured, as long as he has it in stock and I'm there anyway, why not? I had to register as a patient first and fill out a few minutes' worth of paperwork, but that's it.

Yes, before my DD was born My husband and I both got the tdap vaccine.
Most Primary Care doctors do carry the vaccine but if they dont you should ask your DC's pediatrician. They will just prob have you pay cash for it, since you are not their patient.
There are a ton of cases reported in both Nassau and Suffolk County.

i got it done at the pediatricians office after ds was born (march of this year)
when dh and i went there for ds well visit we got our flu shots there too 
eta: it went thru out insurance

I got mine at my doctors office during the summer when there was an outbreak in...Smithtown I think 
My arm hurt for like a WEEK!

Our ped said to try our own Dr and if they don't have it to come back and he'd give it to us.

I got it in the hospital when I had DS. My own doctor offered it to me when I had my annual check-up in June too. Obviously didn't get it again.
