really high fever and no other symptoms

Sorry, but this is the first time DD has had such a high fever..it was a 103.4 when I last checked, we gave her a lukewarm bath, gave her motrin all about an hour ago when we first realized she was burning up....no other symptoms..she's acting absolutely fine...what could it be??? I'm freaking out..the ped told me to do what I already did

is she teething?

DS spiked almost 104 when he was teething real bad. no other symptoms..was still eating, happy playing, etc. motrin helped.

DS normally runs a little warm. His regular body temp is usually 99.2-99.5;

I actually think she's getting her eye teeth... Chels runs warmish too, I thought it may be teething, but thought it was way too high for it to be her teeth..but who knows, I guess it could be...

My DD has had ear infections and her only symptom was a fever (and at night she was wakeful so I am unsure if it was due to fever or the EI looking back in hindsight) ...Hope she feels better soon

I feel like a fever that high wouldn't be caused from teething. My Dr's disagree (re-assuring ) but one said it can cause a slight fever and the other said it shouldnt cause a fever at all.

Maybe she is fighting something? A cold. An ear infection?

Katie is going through this now. She had a 104.3 yesterday at its highest. No other symptoms except extreme crankiness. The only way I can get it down is by doing the tylenol/motrin combo. Even with that combo, it only went down to 101.8.

my DC never went that high with teething and both my DC got a lot of ear infectios but never had a fever (which rare.)

However, both my children recently had high fevers with no other symptoms and then a few days later broke out with the coxsackie rash. So their fever was due to coxsackie and if that's what it is you won't know for a few days.

My kids get that all the time. All 3 of them just had that a few weeks ago. The twins ran 104-104.8 for 3 days , it was scary, but a fever is a good sign and a fever with no symptoms means the bodys fighting it well.

ds had that... roseola..... after fever broke then rash dots

My DS just went through this. It lasted 2 days. No biggie. He's fine now. Fevers are OK. It's the body fighting something off.

DS had been sick a few times where he had a high fever for the first day and the symptoms appeared the next day (coughing etc.). Could just be a virus. If she still doesn't have any symptoms tomorrow I would take her to the ped. My ped says teething only causes low grade fevers and that it would never cause a fever that high - not sure if other peds say the same thing though.

103 is too high for teething - it could be something like roseola - they get a high fever then when it breaks a rash -it's pretty common.

When DD had a fever that high it was coxsackie. I would have pedi check out DC's throat and ears.

I had her 18 mos well visit scheduled for tomorrow, but we're taking her in for a sick visit I guess now.I was thinking roseola as well...
I thought it was too high for teething initially, plus her eyes are glassy so I think she's def sick...

this has happened to DS too. He is generally a warm kid, but once in a while he runs a really high fever with no other symptoms. So far it has always been nothing.

I didn't think such a high fever could be related to teethign, but with DS the two things did happen at teh same time... so maybe?

When this happens I just try to keep a close eye on him. When in doubt, call the doctor and ask to be seen... never know if it might be an ear infection or something else.

my son had this a few weeks ago. It lasted 6 days. Just the fever. No other symptoms. It was viral. Nothing you can do but alternate tylenol and motrin. Hang in there.
