As you know I just bought a Jeep Cherokee, got a great deal b/c it was just before the new 2011 model came out and they're trying to get rid of the old models. So far so good, its a strong safe car imo.

Love my Subaru Forrester. It is virtually maintenance free and always gets high safety rating from Consumer Reports.

I had my first one for 7 yrs and never had one problem. Now on #2 and just as happy!

A friend of mine has the Dodge Journey and it is fantastic. It has a lot more room than you'd expect. I may actually be selling my Tahoe and getting a Journey. 25 MGP versus the 12 I get now is very attractive ;)

I have the Subaru Forrestor. It's not an suv but, not quite a wagon either.. I LOVE IT!

Not only is it roomy but, it handles like a dream in the snow/rain. I will never drive a car that is not a subaru again.

I have a Jeep Liberty! I love it and so does CaMacho...lol...she is on #4 (I think). It's great in all weather and good on gas. I feel like it may be a little too cramped for 2 kids...but i'm sure it works fine - I will soon find out...lolChat Icon

Re: Rec your small to mid sized SUV

Thank you so much for all of your input!

We are turning in a Honda Accord so I'm going to check out the CRV first.

Most importantly I want something that is great on gas and afforable. We also have another SUV that was very $$$$ and does not have good gas mileage so I'm really looking for something with both of these aspects this time.

I also want to look at the Mazda cx7 (I love this suv), the jeep liberty and now I might just have to take a look at the Subaru after all of your recs (I would have never thought of this one!).

I know people love the CRV but just think about your use with your family when looking at it. It might be perfect but a friend of mine has one and while she loves it now that her DS is 2 and she is hoping to have another soon she is trading it in for somthing bigger. She says its just too small. We went on vacation with them and IMO its really no bigger than a sedan just with a taller trunk.

The CX7 I loved on the road we have friends that love it, my only issue was that the trunk space because its so curvy of a vehicle wasnt too big height wise. I wanted to know we could go to home depot or something and get a large box in there without worrying. FM debsey she just traded hers in not that long ago.

Love teh subarus have heard nothing but good things about them!

GL!
