Recommend your home inspector please...
We have a bit of a strange situation...my FIL offered to sell us his house for less than it's worth. It's in Flushing in a very nice area (we live here now and pay him rent). We are pretty sure he's giving it to us at a significant discount but we want to check with a home inspector just to make sure that the $100,000 or so that we're "saving" in buying this house from him won't just have to be put back into the house due to problems (it's an old house). We're also looking into Nassau County for houses but with a traditional mortgage with PMI (this house - the Flushing one - would be considered a "gift of equity" mortgage and we wouldn't have to put money down) we could afford a house that would be like more than $75,000 less plus with taxes over $10,000 more in Nassau it doesn't seem worth it.
Can you recommend your home inspector and also help me with a question. Once we decide whether or not we'd definitely want to buy this house, would we need to get it reinspected for the mortgage company or would the inspection we got for our own peace of mind be enough? Also, around how much should we expect to pay for an inspection?

I loved Win home inspection we used steve feldman, more then once and he was great!!
631-957-5905 they have locations in nassau so i'm sure they travel to flushing

Wow thats great, Queens is so expensive and if you can get a house thats less then what its worth that is awesome!! You will make a great profit on your house...congrats!!

Cost depends on the size of the house...number of bathrooms, kitchens, etc. They can tell you on the first phone call how much it will cost.
You do not need to get another inspection for the mortgage company.

We used Home Sweet Home Inspections (as did SweetTooth, MrsFlatBread, etc) out of Ridge, NY.
