Recommend your sound/sleep machine
DD is a very light sleeper. We use the Sleep Sheep, but 45 minutes (the longest it plays) is not cutting it. I have to unplug the phones during naps and basically stay out that side of the house. Walking on our creaky wood floors can even wake her up!
So what do you use?

Homedics sound spa. I dont use the projector really. I just keep it on the ocean or rain sound from the time she goes to sleep till she wakes up. It really seems to calm her, when I give her the bottle and she knocks right out. I needed a sound machine too, since she would always wake up when DH leaves for work at 4am.

This is the one we have. I've never used the projector part either, but I keep in on the rain setting all night long and during naps. It really helps when I'm doing things around the house or if we have company.

I have this too...and it goes much louder than the sheep! We use it at my parents house because they are much lighter sleepers there

Re: Recommend your sound/sleep machine
I don't remember who, but someone on here recommended the Sound Conditioner Sound Screen SleepMate Electro-Mechanical White Noise Machine by Marpac
http://www.amazon.com/Marpac-SleepMate-980A-Electro-Mechanical-Conditioner/dp/B000KUHFGM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1313254900&sr=8-3
Its not crazy loud like playing a CD on stereo... which is what it seemed to take for DS. But its amazing at blocking out noise, in what seems to be a gentle way. We live on a very busy street within 2 blocks of a firehouse, so we really needed something to block noise.
Its easy to take with us on vacations, and its not big or heavy.

Re: Recommend your sound/sleep machine
Thanks again everyone. I'm going to try to pick up the Homedics one this evening. DD is going to spend her first night at my parents tomorrow night and my dad gets up for work at 4:30. I'll feel awful for my mom if DD gets up that early!
