Recovery from tubes surgery
DS2 is having tubes put in next week. What should I expect as far as recovery (day of, day after, few days after, etc?) When can he bathe again? Also, did you use OTC ear plugs or have them custom made? Did you have to use drops?

There was virtually NO "recovery" time honestly. He was able to bathe immediately, no ear plugs necessary. He was fine as soon as he came out of the anesthesia.

Re: Recovery from tubes surgery
same for my son
the hardest part was when he came out of anestia - he was inconsolable for about 30-45 minutes - but the nurses helped and gave a very small dose of morphine to take the edge off- then he slept and he was himself when he woke up
i gave my son a bath the next night - you just cover the ear on the side of the hair you are washing
if they go under a lot in the water then they need the custom ear plugs they told me or for pools -

Re: Recovery from tubes surgery
He had the surgery on Monday and was back to daycare on Wed. He was a bit cranky on Tuesday. We noticed a difference right away with his balance and speech/hearing.
I don't remember bathing. But, he had to wear earplugs for bathing and swimmng. I found the ones in cvs (the clear ones were a bit hard and didnt make the best seal)
I loved These ones with the band-it for swimming also
But, they are much cheaper here.Puddy buddies and ear band-it

same here! DD didnt' need ear plugs because she was only 12 months at the time of surgery and wouldn't be submerged underwater during swimming or bathtime at that age.
