Reese is getting Surgery tomorrow-tubes in her ears-UPDATE
I felt so bad Sydney her sister just left to sleep at my moms because we have to be at winthrop tomorrow at 7am. Reese will be put under..i heard it's a really fast procedure i just hate when you have to be put under. Anyone else been through this? Reese needs tubes in her ears to help with the fluid..she constantly has fluid in her ears and we think thats whats delaying her speech. Anything i need to know.

Update: 1st i want to thank all you wonderful people for the kind thoughts and well wishes.
Reese was amazing today she is so brave. My DH and i drove her this morning at 6:30. We waited for a little bit and then my Dh and i took her in only 1 of us was able to go back to the operating room while they put her under..my DH was very upset so i went back with her and I laid her down on the operating table we sang songs with the docs (my ENT was awesome) then they gave her some laughing gas which made her woozy and then the anesthia to make her sleep..I was nervous and sad but i didn't want to appear upset to Reese..i waited until she was asleep and then i had to leave. my DH and i waited about 15 minutes and the surgery was finished. My Dh and i went back to recovery where Reese was screaming and crying for about 5 long minutes..then we took her home.. Once we were home she perked up and started laughing and running around the house..I saw an immediate change in her..It's like for the 1st time she felt healthy and nothing bothered her..it was so cool. She even said a new word today. My daughter is 2 and has never babbled but says 3 words mama, elmo and Nana (for banana). Today was the 1st day she started saying sounds and babling more. I could not believe how fast i saw results.
It's been a long day but i am so happy with the decision i made.

Gavin had this done last Thursday at the DayOp center in Mineola. There was only one person aloud at a time so DH went with him to be put under and I was the first one in the recovery room. gavin cried for like 10 minutes after he woke up..and the rest of the day he was a little fussy but mostly normal. I think its worse for us then it is for them.

Absolutely routine - they do it all of the time. However we all know it's never routine when it's your child.
Hope it goes quickly & recovery is just as fast!

Good luck tomorrow!!
We have been evaluating whether or not to do this for DD for recurring ear infections. The ENT is for it, the ped is not (yet.) I have no problem doing it if its what is best for DD. I know quite a few people that had it done for their DC and it is very quick. It will be harder on you than DD!!

An old co-worker of mine had the surgery for her son and I remember her breathing a big sigh of relief afterwards and being surprised how simple it was.

she'll do fine!!! i had this surgery twice when i was little because of recurring ear infections. i STILL remember how much better i could hear afterwards!! it was amazing the difference it made for me! and i've been find ever since!
also, as a speech therapist, i have to say its probably the best thing you can do- its incredible how much their hearing can affect their speech! so its great to get it taken care of so she can get back on track. good luck again, and let us know how it goes!!
