Red face
My face is always red. Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do for it? It has been this way as long as I can remember. As a teen I had horrible acne and now as an adult the acne is mostly gone but I'm always red. My family does have a history of bad skin. My dad has acne pits and and scars and his mother died from scleroderma that she left untreated because she was afraid of the doctor. Both of my sisters have terrible skin as well. I find that when I use benzoil peroxide overnight my skin isn't so red but I don't want to be on such harsh chemicals all the time. Ugh.

Re: Red face
Sounds like maybe you have rosacea. I have it too. I've used the Aveeno Calming line, which is made for that and it definitely helps a bit. There's also Metrogel-which a derm can prescribe. That also helps too!

Re: Red face
My redness went down a lot when I started using a Clarisonic. It's strange--I thought it might irritate it & make it more red, but I think that maybe irritants/residue were being left on my skin & causing redness? I'm not sure, but it seems to be working for me.

Re: Red face
I agree with the rosacea. I have very ruddy sink and I hate it. This is what works best for me:
Find a moisturizer with an SPF. Aveeno makes an excellent, affordable one that does not break me out.
Go to your dermo and check that it is rosacea. If it is I have found that Finacea gel works great. You only uneed a very, very little but it helps in curbing the redness and it has greatly improved the texture of my sink.
Also, before applying makeup (if you wear any) use a primer with a green or yellow base. Smashbox makes a great one, so does physician's formula, as well as Clinique. There are even color-correction powders that you can apply after your foundation sets.
Go to Sephora and get a foundation that is matched to your skin. Express to the person helping you that you want to curb the redness. They should be able to help you find a foundation that does not accentuate your pink undertones.
I have not tried the clairsonic but that is next on my radar. good luck!

I have roseacea and what helps is not taking hot showers, staying away from red wine (sulfites & tannins make me flare up) moisturize as soon as I get out of the shower. Also, Clinque's CC cream really balances out my red skin :)

Sounds like Roseacea... they gave me some gel to put on at night before bed... and told me to stay away from certain foods... but sorry, I'm Italian, I'm not giving up my tomatoes or my red wine!

Re: Red face
I've also found that using a toner daily helps with it.
Just get basic witchhazel. It's really the best toner you could buy and it's so cheap.

Re: Red face
I use Clinique Redness Solutions foundation. You could also try a green-based concealer.

Re: Red face
I'd try to see the skin doctor before putting money into different make ups/products.

Definitely but in the meanwhile, if she wants to cover up the redness a bit these are some great options.

Re: Red face
I would go to a dermatologist first, but green primer/pan concealer (smashbox, make up forever) will help reduce redness. So you could do the green primer/concealer and then your normal foundation to reduce the redness.

Re: Red face
I'm a little late to the game on this, but regarding the rosacea, it can also flare up from STRESS, so I take yoga classes. It helps a little, but mainly I use the Aveeno Calming line and some stuff from the Dermo. I actually have an appointment with him tomorrow. I hope I can make it with the snow!!
