Red Light Camera Tickets.
So, I know I was wrong, and I was trying to make the light- left turn- and I seem to have entered the intersection after it turned red.
Fine, I will pay the fine. I was wrong.
But the fine is $50 and the "ADMINISTRATIVE FEE" IS $30? Really? More than 50% of the fine?
And then you go to pay it and it's a $4 PROCESSING FEE?
Really? Our taxes aren't enough?
What exactly does the $30 admin fee and the $4 processing fee go to?
I'm sorry, but it's outrageous.

Some administration fees are more then a ticket. I think I heard one for speeding was $125. Suffolk Country charges $25-$50 adm fee for DISMISSED tickets!

With stuff like that, it's almost like I'd rather the ticket itself just be $84.
For some reason, that seems less annoying that administrative fees.

Yeah. I paid by check because I refused to pay the cc charge. It's ******** the fees are more than the ticket. Dh is notorious for getting them and I always want to hurt him when I open the mail because $80 for a right on red is ******* rediculous.

Anybody else get nervous around these red light cameras? I feel like I'm always super tense and deciding if I should stomp on my brakes. I've seen people short stop and its nerve wracking. I wonder if these cameras actually cause more accidents.
That's an insane fee.

This is absurd. Hypothetically, they could knowingly giving people tickets with no basis and you'd have to pay these fees to get them dismissed? Such BS.

I just got one on old country road in westbury and with fees it came to 150 bucks. Insane. Here in queens it is still a reasonable 50

I HATE them. I think they are more of a pain and the neck. I envy that guy that was going around shooting them down.

Pretty much no. they have video and pictures of you doing it. It doesn't even matter if you weren't driving your car that day. That is why it's no points and considered a parking violation rather than a moving violation- because they can't prove it was YOU driving.
My issue isn't with the fine- because yeah, it was me, and yeah they have video of me entering an intersection after the light was red. Guilty as charged.
It's the exorbitant and unfair "fees" that kills me

Re: Red Light Camera Tickets.
It is irritating that they list administrative fees separately. They should just lump it all into the fine amount. It's almost as if they want you to get pissed off

It goes to the company running the red lights. THEY have to be paid.
This is NOT about safety. Its about lining pockets. Period.

I am curious, what makes you think it's not about safety? Financially penalizing somebody for doing something illegal is sure good motivation to prevent these illegal acts.
If you aren't going to financially penalize someone, how else are you going to do it?
