The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
I know some of you think I am paranoid but this is what I have encountered in 1 day. So I will share my experience on those red light tickets.
This is on Old Country Rd. Same intersection (Old country road/Jerusalem Ave). Same day.
Saturday morning:
In right light, trying to make a right turn. Red light. Car in front of me stopped with right turn signal. Wait for her to turn. You can turn right at that light on red. No traffic!! I honk. Nothing. She is not moving. I try to tell her she can go. She refused. Light goes green. Catch up with her at next intersection. Roll down my window and nicely tell her that it was not a "no turn on right" intersection that she could have turn. She was nice and told me that 2 weeks ago, she got a ticket for turning right on the red. That now she stops and won't take a chance. She will not turn right anymore at any intersection when the light is red. I thanked her for the warning.
Saturday night. Same intersection. From Old Country Rd, turning left onto Jerusalem Ave. Car is front of us is in the intersection waiting to turn left. Light turn left. We are stopped at light. Car in the intersection turn left. Camera flash. That guy IS getting a ticket.
Now if I remember from my DMV class, the car in the intersection is not running through the red light. But any cars after would be.
So... be warned!!! you might get a ticket at that intersection for turning right at the red light OR if you are already in the intersection waiting to turn left.
I heard the one on Old Country Rd and S. Oyster Bay is just as bad too.

Re: The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
They are all over the place in the Bellmore-Merrick area. My DH already got a ticket at the one on Newbridge and Bellmore Ave, making the left turn when the light was turning red. He told me another one is probably in the mail for Merrick Rd and Bellmore Ave intersection. If you notice, they put up a sign that says "Photo Enforced." It's $50 per ticket. I now won't go in the intersection when trying to make a left turn, but I'd be ****** if I got a ticket making a right turn, if there were no sign.

Re: The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
There was an article in the paper about this when the cameras first were put up. Apparently, in order to avoid right turn red light ticket, you have to come to an absolute complete stop behind the line before turning. I guess most people kind of roll through the intersection.

Re: The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
The full stop is impossible to prove.
Just another way of effing people.
Suozzi was on my train this evening. I asked him about it.
He kept on walking.

Re: The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
It stinks...and i am becoming a horrible driver
I almost come to a full stop on a green when going through the intersections, as to avoid going through the yellow, so i have enough time to slam on my brakes at a yellow.
When making a left I will not go past the line, if i dont have an arrow, i will sit behind the line and wait for the next cycle til i get my arrow.
As for right on reds, I am not turning anymore.
Its caused some road rage in other drivers, I am scared of the consequences if they get out of their car to confront me but i really do not want any tickets.
they should make all right on red illegal They should make inching out over the line during a green to make a left turn illegal and just have turn signals at every left hand intersection.

A friend of mine got a ticket for making a right on red at the intersection of Central (I think) and Stewart Ave in Bethpage.

It annoys the crap out of me every time she says it, but my mom is right. You don't HAVE to turn right on red.

Re: The red light camera ticket projects!!!! WARNING!!!
I live in Queens, and am not that use to being able to turn on red, since we have very few intersections that allow it.
When I go to LI & come to intersections that allow turning on red, I usually don't turn. I just don't like how people behind me don't even bother to brake or slow down. They proceed as if its a green signal.
The sign says "AFTER Stop, right turn permitted". So to piss people off I just STOP.
Plus like someone else posted, you don't HAVE to turn.
