Redoing hardwood floor and molding question...

If you had your hardwood floors redone and you had base molding....Was there a lot of damage to the molding in the process of sanding/buffing the floors?

We had a lot of damage and now the molding has to be totally repainted

We had to repaint the moulding as well. I would expect that since they need to get as close as possible to the moulding so the floors look uniform.

Yes, they do damage the moulding when they refinish the flooring.

We just had our floors refinished and we will be replacing the moulding with new mouldings.

Can you call the company back that did your floors and ask for money back so you can replace the molding? I would complain that they didn't remove them or cover them up in anyway.Chat Icon

Do they just have the stain on them or do they have other damage? I'm so sorry that the floor company isn't trying to do the right thing. Chat Icon

Re: Redoing hardwood floor and molding question...

We had to repaint ours as well, but to be honest, we planned on repainting it anyway. We had just bought the house at the time and painted after the floors were refinished.
