refinancing question- appraisals

If you refinanced recently, did you have to get another appraisal? Did you have to get it before you got a quote?

Re: refinancing question- appraisals

You have to get a new appraisal. Our appraisal was done after we locked in our rate.

Re: refinancing question- appraisals

most banks will require their own appraisal. Occasionally they'll use a prior appraisal if it was done within 90 days.

Yep, we are making the appointment this week with the appraiser. We just locked in last Friday.

Re: refinancing question- appraisals

Actually, appraisals are good for 120 days, but would need a recert after 90 days. It is usually very difficult to get one lender to endorse their appraisal over to another lender. If you used a broker they should know their appraiser well enough to get them to sign it over without much hassle.
