reflux/gas
the past few days, DD has been taking her bottle and then suddenly coughing and gagging, or taking it and then stops sucking, or slows down and lets milk run down her face. I'll stop, burp her, and then she drinks again, but a minute later is doing the same thing. also spitting up more. Reflux? gas? both?
should i try switching her bottle? she is using tomee tipee now, i have ventaires that i haven't tried yet. i EP so she gets breast milk.

Re: reflux/gas
sounds like reflux not gas. Call ped.. they can tell you what formula to switch if need be.

Re: reflux/gas
I had this issue with my DD and she ended up having a cows milk protein allergy and reflux. I am now on a no dairy diet and I had to supplement with Alimentum while I was pumping and dumping to get the dairy out of my breastmilk.

Try changing your diet.. cut out diary see what happens.. cut out different things for a few days and see if there is a change.

so start with dairy, because that's the biggest culprit right?

alimentum is dairy free? is it soy?
I have been giving her 2 ounces of enfamil lipil at night to help her sleep a little better. i mix it with my breastmilk................i wonder if that is making her worse

Re: reflux/gas
Alimentum isnt soy but the protein that is in milk is broken down so much that it is easier on their systems. It is a hypoallergenic formula. I would try cutting dairy out of your diet and see if that helps.

Re: reflux/gas
I used to put cheese on everything!!! I lived on cheese while i was preggo. When my family found out about my no dairy diet they told me to stop breastfeeding cause i would be torturing myself lol. They all know how much i love dairy!! It sucks but it isnt as hard as i thought it would be!

Re: reflux/gas
I think if it were reflux she would be crying. Mine screamed and arched her back alot because reflux burns. Gas pains would make her scrunch her tummy in pain. It sounds like she is not really paying attention, sleeping, not really hungry or maybe the nipple has too much flow for her.
ETA: Check with your doctor but I don't think you are supposed to mix formula milk with breastmilk like in the same bottle...
