Regarding school district info UPDATE: TY for all the great info!!
there is a house i liked online until i saw that it was listed in the elmont school district... i kept clicking on the house the past few months and about a month later it said floral park/bellerose school district.. today i see the listing for the house was updated and lo and behold it now says new hyde park school district.. are they lying to get more people to look at the house?? I find it to be so shady!!! How can I see what the true school district for the house is??

Look at the town of the house. Then call the school district of the town it's in. They will tell you which school district the house goes to.

I would definitely bring it to their attention and if they fail to update the listing with the correct information, maybe you should notify mlsli?

it's unfortunate but some listings are not accurate. When we were looking at homes, if we were very interested in a particular house and considering putting in an offer, we would do all sorts of research first. We wanted to be sure all info was accurate and what exact taxes were, schools, etc.

Sounds like they are playing around with the fact that the high school district for that area is comprised of Elmont High School, New Hyde Park High School, Floral Park High School, Sewanhaka High School, and Carey High School (Franklin Square). Technically they are all one school district, the Sewanhaka Central School District.

Exactly my thoughts.
Didnt know that any of the houses in NHP were considered elmont though. I always thought they were either Floral Park/Bellerose or NHP proper.
If you dont want elmont SD id stay away from looking in South Floral Park, and I guess south NHP as well.

Alden Terrace Elementary (Valley Stream)
Stewart Manor Elementary (Stewart Manor)
Dutch Broadway Elementary (Elmont)
Clara Calrson Elementary (Elmont)
Covert Ave Elementary (Elmont)
Gotham Ave Elementary (Elmont)

I would check this with the real estate agent to ensure the accuracy of the address because I grew up in NHP not too far from this address and had a few friends who lived on this block. It is nowhere near Elmont. It is definitely NHP school district. Elementary school is New Hyde Park Road School (K-6) and New Hyde Park Memorial HS (7-12).
ETA: So, if the house address is in fact, 510 N. 11th Street, NHP, 11040- then it is definitely NHP schools- no where near Elmont, FP or Bellerose. And if you have any questions about NHP, I grew up there so I can help you.

According to them it's NHP-Garden City Park for elementary and Sewanhaka for secondary.

i grew up in NHP and lived on North Third Street. went to nhp/gcp elem schools and NHP memorial hs.
anything North of jericho tpk (which i assume n 11th st is) would go to NHP memorial. S of jericho with a NHP address goes to Sewanhaka.
i would call the SD and confirm tho
