Relapsing on sleeping at 19 mos, use CIO...

Last night we had the problem of DS climbing out of the crib and REFUSING to sleep. We do do CIO but of course b/c he could get out of the crib that didn't work so well last night... I posted about my night last night. We just don't think DS is ready for a toddler bed yet. We have the crib to where we THINK DS can't get out of it tonight, do I just let him CIO until he goes to sleep tonight? What do I do? And what could have changed him overnight from this kid who used to sleep AWESoME to a kid who now refuses to go to sleep, even when he is this tired? Please help, this mommy is losing her mind and as a full time working mother and wife I need my sleep...

I responded last night to your post also. I think that if he is climbing out of his crib he might be ready for a bed. You could always try it and see how it goes. There are some moms on here who out of their blue their kids stop sleeping in their cribs, switched them to a bed and went back to their old sleeping habits. Unless he is sick or teething and you dont think their is anything else wrong, this is something I would definetely try. It can't hurt!

ETA: Another option is a crib tent to keep him in the crib if you really dont want to transition him to a bed. I am not a fan of them but they seem to work for some people.

Have you changed his routine or been doing anything differently? He could just be going through a phase testing you. I hate letting DS CIO...I haven't had to do it in a LONG time thank god...but there are some rare nights he fights going to bed.
