Repeat csection moms
I am in my 2nd pregnancy. DD was delivered csection because she was breech. I have constantly tossed the idea back and forth of a vbac vs. repeat csection. I have opted for a repeat cesction just because even though there is a small risk of anything happening....if something did I'd never be able to forgive myself. In the end, all I want is a successful delivery for the baby and myself.
Still I would have liked to have gone through the water breaking and believe it or not labor. If you had a repeat csection, did you feel like you missed out on the labor and delivery routine?

Re: Repeat csection moms
with pregnancy #1, my water broke but I never felt contractions. I was induced..it didn't take. The next day I ended up in a C Section.
For pregnancy #2, I simply went for the C section. I did not want to go through everything I did for Pregnancy #1.

Re: Repeat csection moms
I went through labor but not delivery with my first child. She wasn't moving even after I pushed for 2 hours and her heart rate started dropping so they did an emergency c-section. When it came time for me to have my 2nd child, the doctor decided about 2 weeks before I was due that a c-section was the way to go again. DS was very high up and my doctor was concerned that I was going to have the same problem as I did with my daughter. So we opted for the section. I was upset that I wasn't going to get my labor and delivery story and that I wasn't going to have any anticipation as to when was the baby going to come. But in the end I was ok and I do have a story, it's just a different story then I envisioned.

Same for me. W/ DD, my water broke, no contractions; cervadil, pitocin & never progressed passed 6 or so (30 hours later) so CS it was. I was devastated when she told me it was down to the wire (time was running out since my water broke the day b4) & DH had to calm me down at the time. I was so disappointed. But then W/ DS I opted for the sked CS.

Re: Repeat csection moms
not at all- i had the choice b/t a vbac or C...although my dr. in the end pushed more for the C and i was fine scheduling it. i will say one thing: 2nd time around the C was 1000x easier to go through and recover from. i could not believe the difference b/t my 1st and 2nd. when i saw how big DS was too when he came out-i was so happy i had the C
p.s. i went throught labor with my 1st-water breaking/contractions etc and DD went into distress hence the emergency c-section. i did not care to go through that again or feel the pain of labor etc.

Re: Repeat csection moms
I had a scheduled c section both times and I have no regrets or sadness over it. I honestly had two great experiences and I never even had to feel a single labor pain! My thinking is, who cares how they come out, so long as they're healthy? If anything, I feel lucky that I had two c-sections!
ETA: While I don't have any stories to tell the kids about the day I went into labor with them, I do have great stories of other things that happened in the delivery room that they'll love to hear, too. It's just like someone said, it's not the story you envision, but a story nonetheless. I really can't say enough how wonderfully my two c sections were. I'm 7 weeks out of my second one now and I have felt normal for weeks now. Probably since the second week. I am back to my old self at this point.

Re: Repeat csection moms
For my first pregnancy DS was a footling breech baby. My water broke in advance of my scheduled c/s. I did not feel the contractions until I was in transition. I made it from fully closed to 10 cm without feeling the contractions. When I felt them OMG they were insane. They did not have me push, I had an emergency c/s. So, I sort of feel like I had a "labor experience" having felt contractions and having my water break. I had originally wanted a vbac for DD, but she was transverse breech so I had a repeat c/s for her.

Re: Repeat csection moms
I loved my c sections Docs asked me if I wanted to do Vbac for # 2 and I said no. now I wish I tried bc my scarring was so bad, they don't want me to get pregnant again since I'm no longer eligible for vbac (#3)
I went into labor w/ both kids bc the came early. DS 1 I was 7 CM by the time I got my Epi, DS 2 I was 5 CM at epi time. believe me you are not missing anything !

Re: Repeat csection moms
I went thru hell aka labor with my first, and have NO desire to do it again with #2. I am more than happy walking in and getting a repeat c-section. Maybe if I hadn't experienced my water breaking, labor, etc., I would feel differently, but having been thru it and it was a B!TCH, I don't want to go thru it again lol.

Re: Repeat csection moms
With DS#1, I was in labor, got to the hospital at 6cm, water broke, got epi & then my son would not descend anymore into the birth canal. After 6 hours of labor, my son was born via C-section. DS was not even big, so they just think that I am small inside
When I got pregnant with this one, I automatically said repeat c-section. I honestly did not want to go through all I did with #1 & then end up with a section anyway. I feel like it is God's way of telling me I am just not cut out for natural birth....I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. Plus I love the idea of picking the date & getting the hospital of my choice (my OB delivers at 3)

Re: Repeat csection moms
I had different issues with my 2nd pregnancy than my first. DS was an emergency c-section and I was confused on what to do when it came to DD. I have an issue with my blood clotting and I needed transfusions a few weeks before delievery so for me my decision was kind of made for me, a c-section was the safest way to go I didn't have to worry about rupturing my uterus. However, I was so fortunate to go into full on labor 10 hours before I was scheduled to be admitted for my c-section! My water broke with meconium, I was 6 cm by the time I got to the hospital! ugh...but you are making a great decision

Re: Repeat csection moms
It truly never mattered to me...
With my DS I had a c-section due to size and it was planned...
DD was also a planned c-section but she decided to make me go into labor 10 hours before I was due to be at the hospital Water broke in the parking lot...She arrived 5:56am and I was supposed to arrive at the hospital at 7am - LOL I had placenta previa with her, so I was having a c-secton either way...
Having now experienced labor , c-sections are fine with me

Re: Repeat csection moms
I personally do not feel like I missed out on anything...my 1st pregnancy was not a scheduled c-section but I was induced with NO progress and there was some distress with the baby so we did a c
2nd one was a scheduled c - no regrets

Re: Repeat csection moms
I ended up with a csection the first time around. I was also scared about something happening, so I had another one the 2nd time around. I'm now pregnant a 3rd time and will have a 3rd csection. I was disappointed that I ended up with a csection the first time around, but I'm over it. The only thing that bothers me about the repeat csections is picking the baby's Birthday. I always felt weird about that, like I was messing with the day the baby wanted to be born! But obviously I had to get over that!
