Those I think are just gross.
I don't go to places like Outback, Applebees, Cheesecake Factory etc expecting a top notch meal - So i don't think it's fair to really complain about those places - For what you're getting, I think they're fine.
Places like Otto's & Claudio's again - I feel like the food isn't really what you go for - it's the outdoor dining on the water ......and you're not paying a Morton's price to eat there.......so it is what it is.....It's fun, but it's not the best food ........

I'm good with Cheesecake, I like the food, I don't like the cheesecake.
Cafe Bacci, I don't get, people like it, I thought it tasted bad, and the wait was horrible.
Jewel, I had similar experiences to other posters, terrible service, not knowledgeable at all, slow slow slow. the food was ok, not fantasic.
Blackstone - I'm 50/50, half the time my meal isn't great, the steak isn't cooked as asked, and or it is dried out. the other half the time its fantastic.
Lugers is overrated. I really don't get the appeaal. I hear about the history and all, but the steak isn't that great, its good, but at that level of steak house I've had many much better steaks. The sides were forgettable, desert was ok.
I was hoping Aparitif lived up to the hype, I love Sage in bellmore and the other affiliated place in oceanside.
To touch on another subject....... I get so frustrated with LI and NY italian resturants. they have a menu is as long as a diner's menu, the food is generic at best and just a pile of grease at worst.

Giardino's by the Russo's - YUCK! We went there this weekend & the only thing that was outstanding was the fried calamari. All of the rest of the food was horrendous, service was horrible too. Their penne ala vodka was glorified mac & cheese - 
Also, when it was open - Carosello, also by the Russo's. My SIL would always have her kid's parties there.

I am a bit surprised by this 2 places mentioned since every time I ate there the food was good. Maybe the food changed over time.

I agree with The Riverhead Project. I went there for brunch and have had a better meal at a diner. And definitely Elbow Room. Not sure why people flock to it every weekend.

Umbertos of New Hyde Park.
Work will order pizza from there and I just find it to be very greasy.
I also agree about Ciao Baby- not a fan.

Peter Lugers. I am a steak connoisseur, i have been to countless steakhouses, I went twice and was totally not impressed at all. I thought the steak was terrible.

Maureen's Kitchen- the food isn't bad but I don't see the hype or the reason to wait so long for a table. To me it's just an overrated diner.
The food at Tellers was just okay. Not worth the $250 we spent.
I don't see the hype about Maureens kitchen at all. The food is just okay.
While I liked the chocolate fondue at Melting pot, the cooking your own meat was not for me.
Applebees and Olive Garden are just horrible. Not sure why anyone goes to those places.
One of the worst places I ever ate at was the Riverview restaurant. The croutons in my salad had mold. The dressing tasted like it was from the bottle. Are meals where disgusting. We had teenagers serving us, and it wasn't a cheap meal. Someone told us we had to go, because it was so good. Well I left still hungry, and actually told my DH I would of rather went to McDonalds. HAHA
I like Ciao Baby and Besito.

Olive garden- is disgusting
All American- I don't get the hype, I think five guys is way better
Blackstone- for what it's supposed to be I left disappointed and wouldn't go back

Pier 25A on northern blvd in queens
YOUR MOTHERS HOUSE in New Hyde Park. Cool atmosphere...awful service and food.
Uncle Bacala's. Food was dry and not tasty.
Most places on the nautical mile that ive tried are horrible
Bobbys Burgers -- it was NOT what i was expecting. The burger meat was one of those frozen pucks they use at fast food joints. Not fresh. Totally gross.
I enjoy Vincents bottled sauce in a pinch, but not the actual restaurant-- too crowded, loud, etc. I equate this place with my local pizzeria though -- same prices, same quality food
I saw Outback mentioned... its not my favorite but for a cheap night out id prefer it to Applebees or Cheesecake factory
Heard good things about Cioa Baby...but after reading this I probably wont even try it!
As for PL, its good, but not great. If you want great steak go to Bryant and Cooper. Yum
And ive enjoyed Giordionos in Douglaston the past 2 times ive been there. Good service and meal.
