Re: Retirement age?
I'm in NYS retirement also. In 10 years I will have my 25 years in. I will be 45 years old. I will most likely Retire at 55. If I could leave right now I would.

Re: Retirement age?
I'd love to by 50 but we shall see how much I can save by then. My mom kept putting it off and got sick one month before she was finally going to retire at 61. She died 9 months later and never got to enjoy any retirement so her advice to me was do it as soon as you possibly can.
SO can retire at 38!

Re: Retirement age?
Dh can retire at 44 if he really wants to. However, he will probably work another 5 years after that since our kids will still be young. I have no clue when I will be able to retire. All I know is that it will probably be impossible to stay on LI when we retire.

Retirement age?
I plan on working until 65/70. I'm a teacher, I have plenty of time off, good hours, and I love what I do.
Dh wants to retire at 50. Realistically I think he'll retire around 55/60.

Re: Retirement age?
I will definitely be carried out of my office in a wooden box. Not my choice, just the way it is - it just won't be possible to retire unless I get lucky with Powerball tonight!

Re: Retirement age?
Ideally I would work FT for 5 yrs and switch over to part time. Working PT from 45-55 sounds perfect to me. We do not have pensions. DH doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon. He makes a lot more than I do.
