Re: Ricki Lake: How I Lost Over 100 lbs
She does look great! But, I thought I read somewhere that she had a gastric bypass done awhile ago?
I personally think it's fine if she had one, but the magazine headline reads "drastic weight loss - without surgery"...

I am not sure if she did or if she didn't. But good for her! She has had it rough in terms of weight loss and in her personal life and I like to see people have happy endings!
But as someone who DID have weight loss surgery, I am always amazed at how the media needs to reinforce a person's (famous or not) weight loss without surgery by making it part of a headline. I have seen it MANY times since I have had my own procedure. It almost negates the purpose for the surgery for people who really need it - regardless of personal or societal opinions. I know so many people whose lives were saved and changed because of gastric bypass or lap band surgeries. Of course a natural weight loss through diet and exercise is ideal, but if and when a person needs the option of surgery, it should not be presented as an easy way out. JMO.
