I yell and give the finger mostly. DH has had his shoulder dislocated from fighting with a guy during a road rage incident. It doesn't take much to set DH off that way, although since having Andrew he's gotten better at trying to control himself.

I curse at the top of my lungs and make all kinds of hand gestures.

DH has serious issues on the road. He's so critical of the way people drive and he gets so mad. He messes with people too - one example is if they're on the highway and sitting in the left lane driving under the speed limit, he'll get in front of them and start slowing down. Most of the time the people will think he's nuts and change lanes, but one guy actually slowed down to 20 mph!!! On the highway!!! He just wouldn't change lanes. Some people are just glued to the left lane and they won't move.

Re: "Road Rage" type situations - how do you handle them?

The worst I ever encountered was on the LIE. We accidently off a car and the guy driving went nuts. My ex and this guy played cat and mouse for awhile, chasing each other and cutting each other off. It got pretty intense and we were going really fast and I started to get very nervous, I had enough. Finally after some time of this, the guy pulls up next to us and starts waving a CHAINSAW at us. I freaked and we got off at the next exit. Who the hel! has a chainsaw in their car??? People are nuts. That was the end of my road rage days.

You really have to be very careful

People are nuts, and that is hard to remember when you are angry

I posted a story here over the summer where DH got punched in the face (while he was sitting in his car at a light, through the window) by some nut

Lisa, I just read it - it's actually in the "related threads" link at the bottom of the page...

What happened with it? Did you press charges? Sue? Did you worry that the guy was going to stalk you or anything?

I usually take it to a new level- by opening the sun roof and then using the finger

just to make sure they see it!

Some girl cut me off big time in Garden City, right by the school. She thought she was tough..cursing and screaming at me. I was just finishing my lunch as I was driving back to work. I had chicken nuggets. As she screamed at me...I threw a chicken nugget at her and it hit her in the cheek. I laughed as I drove away. Her face was priceless.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I scream curses and wave my arms and digits around agressively.
I am guilty of the passive agressive rage. I will speed up or slow down to prevent weavers from getting into my lane. It's like a game with me, I actually enjoy FKing with their heads.

I do this all the time!!! I used to mumble a lot and be a little vindictive, but since becoming a mother, it all changed. I let people go and get away from me. It's just not worth my time and energy to get involved in it all.

i dont drive that much, but i have it. bad.

i have it worse when im not driving. i will scoot over and honk the horn myself when DH is driving..he never curses or anything. i will open the window n yell

one time, we went down this street and there was about 20 ppl outside and a little kid came in the street on a bike, dh had to stop short-
so i opened my window n yelled "watch your FKN kid"

everyone looked blankly at me. well it turns out, it was a dead end street and we had to pass them again, and some big mutha came over sayin "its not my kid" and i was like i dont care if its ur fkn kid or not, if a kid goes in the streeet, u go after him

then this lil hoodlum (lol) was on a bike circling us. so i was saying seriously *** are u going to do???? i have a car ill run ur azz over --
n then he proceeded to call me a honky-LOL-and i said go fk urself u stupid MF

DH just looked on in amazement

Re: "Road Rage" type situations - how do you handle them?

If someone is being an azz, let them pass. Studies of the L.I.E. have shown that if 2 people start at the midtown tunnel & drive to Riverhead...one drives in the same lane and one cuts people off and weaves through lanes, the azz gets to Riverhead two minutes faster.
Who cares about two minutes? Spare your life and let them go.

Re: "Road Rage" type situations - how do you handle them?

Wow i have some winners here:

My friend cut someone off by accident and this woman followed her into a parking lot(she didn't know she was being followed) and punched her in the face! A store owner called the police and the woman was arrested-she drove away

I was driving a couple of yrs ago around Christmas and had to make a left from Commack rd onto Daly Rd There was space and i jumped in to the lane to make the left. Well apparently I cut some guy off. He GOT OUT OF HIS CAR at the light came to the front of mine and punched the car and sai "Figures it's a F-in woman!" Then proceeded to follow me-I called the cops and spoke to a very nice dispatcher who said she had had 20 calls about this-she was going to send a cop and I said wait I am going to pull in and see if he follows me-he didn't so I said forget it.

Re: "Road Rage" type situations - how do you handle them?

I was on the LIE, in the middle lane and his van is in the right lane and starts to go into mine. I tapped my horn, figuring he just didn't see me.....well, the guy got behind me, then got back into the right lane and cut me off so bad that I had to hit my brakes......he flipped me the bird, too. DH was in the passenger side and wanted me to after him......It wasn't worth it to me. The guy was obviously a freak -- he had Jersey plates, no less! Just kidding!!!!!
