Rock N Play Question

Since I hear such great things on LIF, we bought the Rock N Play for Chat Icon to sleep in. I'm due 8/11 so Chat Icon will be sleeping in an air conditioned room. Since I can't swaddle or sleep sack it in the Rock N Play, I'm curious, what did everyone put their child to sleep in?

Rock N Play Question

first yes you can swaddle or sleep ack in the RNP! :) a newborn doesnt need to be strapped in- the thing is so deep - there is no way DC can get out.

if you dont want to though- just put DC in footie PJs with a breatchable swaddle blanket draped over DC. The aden and anias breathable swaddle blankets are the best!

Re: Rock N Play Question

Thank you all! I love the Aden and Anias Muslin blankets! I bought the Snuggabunny version of the RNP. Is that the same as yours? When did your DC move from the RNP to the crib?

Re: Rock N Play Question

OMG you're gonna love the rock n play! I swear its the only reason my DD sleeps through the night!

At first we placed her in there swaddled and in her sleeper. Now we place her in there wearing her sleeper and withy a blanket over here (with her arms out so she cant pull the blanket over her face).

Rock N Play Question

we swaddled with the rnp too when she was very little and didn't belt her in. Then sometimes we would take a regular blanket and really tuck it by her sides and under her feet

Ditto! I didn't strap her in for 3 months...too deep there is no way she would have gotten out!

Thanks everyone! I wonder if I got the same RNP. It doesn't seem THAT deep to me.

I have a different model but that one looks just as deep. Once you get DC home, you can put them in and see if you're comfortable not buckling them. We do have the snugabunny swing and a few times DH put the baby in with a sleepsack and she was buckled so you may be able to do that.

I have this one. My 2 week old sleeps in it with a sleep sack or swaddle. I don't think there's much of an issue about not strapping them in when they're really young and can't move.

Rock N Play Question

DS slept in the rock and play in just his carters sleeper. I was always worrying about overheating him, and the air conditioning was always at 70. I also always buckled him in, I am a worry wart!

Rock N Play Question

i never felt comfortable not strapping her in. so i didnt swaddle persay but id strap her in and tuck the blanket all around her and over. it worked up until she started being able to grab the blanket and pull it out. we used sleep sacks in the RNP for a while but they were a little difficult as well so we ended up just with footed sleepies until we switched her to the crib where we used sleep sacks in the winter and just footie PJs in the summer.

Different but they / the depth are all the same...you def don't have to buckle them in for a few months in this unless you are nervous or something but trust me - they're not going anywhere.

I forget but check the fisher price website...I think the weight limit may be 20-something lbs. My DD slept in it for the first 3-4 mos and then was just in it for bits during the day until probably 5 mos...she def outgrew it by then.

Re: Rock N Play Question

DS#2 is 4 months and we still swaddle at night unbuckled in the rock and play. With DS#1 we used the rock and play until 8 months but he's in the 5th percentile for weight and 10th for height so he's pretty tiny. My new guy is the complete opposite, he's huge and in the 90th percentile so it's not going to last much longer for us. He should really be in the crib anyway, keeping DS#1 in the rock and play so long is how he now sleeps in our bed rather than his own Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Rock N Play Question

I used the RnP until about 4 months. I never bukled him in and he never got out but we stopped using it at 4 months cause he was rolling over in it. It is still in my livign room and I will soemtimes put him in it for naps but I have to watch him carefully cause he tries to stand up in it now.

It is really deep when you put a little NB in it even though it doens't look that way now.
