If you'll travel to Huntington I highly recommend Mazzi. GREAT ambiance, very romantic and good food.

My fave is One If By Land, Two If By Sea. I've read that more proposals happen there than any other location in Manhattan.

Bravo Nader in huntington is Romantic. It's tiny and doesn't have many tables, but the food is wonderful and they have a great wine list!

antica trattoria in Glendale. on the border of brooklyn and queens.
very small family owned quaint italian restaurant.
it is dh and i's favorite.

The Mill Pond House in Centerport...my favorite.
ETA: I forgot you didn't want to go further East then Huntington.

If you venture out to Huntington I'd skip Bravo Nader (I think it's overrated) and hit Piccolo. Top notch service and the food is incredible.

I agree, Piccolo is dynamite, but it is expensive, sometimes a hefty bill at the end of a meal can take the romance out of it But if money is not an issue, definitely go to Piccolo.
