roof warranty question
So we noticed a small brown spot on the ceiling of one of our bedrooms in the new house..we think it's new bc the ceilings have been newly spackled and skim coated..my contractor is going to check where its coming from but he thinks its from the roof. The roof is fairly new and was put in by the previous owner about 5 to 6 years ago. We have all the paperwork for the roof and the installers...do you think the warranty will still be valid for us, or does it get voided out when ownership is transferred???
TIA!!!

Re: roof warranty question
I can't imagine a warranty would be voided just because the house was sold, does the paperwork saying anything about the warranty??

Re: roof warranty question
I believe roof warranties are transferrable...at least that's what I was told when we did our roof on our old house.

Re: roof warranty question
if you have a copy of the roof warranty then it shoudl say in it if its transferrable or not. Most times they are to one person (meaning if the house is sold several times during the warranty only the first buyer gets the warranty) also sometimes there is a transfer fee....most times its like $100.

We were also told this.
