Runners with knee problems
How do you combat the soreness? I limp after I run for at least 24 hours. I have knee braces and good running shoes and cushioned socks.
Does anyone take glucosamine? Does it help???
I'd really like to run more often but I don't want to do more damage...

Re: Runners with knee problems
I've been doing the PT exercises pretty much. I haven't been to one in a while but I have an HSA and I really don't fee like paying for MRIs and stuff
I'm looking for a more wholistic approach anyway- I've had the surgery and it really didn't do much.

Re: Runners with knee problems
Hey girl!
MY DH went to PT for 3 months and stopped running and he finally feels better. But now he wont run because he is scared the injury will resurface.
Also have you thought about getting fitted for sneakers and getting orthodics? That may help!

Re: Runners with knee problems
I just read a study that came out that said glucosamine is worthless.

Re: Runners with knee problems
What sort of knee problem do you have? I have a torn meniscus but it doesn't seem to bother me too much. At times I get soreness if I overtrain (runners knee).

I just get a general soreness. Most of the time it will swell slightly and get hot (def some kind of inflammation). I had surgery a long time ago but this is different.
I'm also an aerobics instructor and I think all the jumping jacks and whatnot dosen't help. I've tried some basic physical therapy stuff and it seems like its getting better but if I run more than 3-5 miles, I limp for a few days- even if I alternate my running days.
I think I might just end up going to the Dr.

Re: Runners with knee problems
i had been going to PT for a few months, which helped. Since I don't go anymore. I just make sure to stretch out really well after a run and ice if it really hurts.
