Sad and confused (and stressed and and . . .
We are waiting to close on a home we are in contract for, but closing has been delayed due to outstanding COs (despite being told that everything is in order). Meanwhile, we have done everything we were obligated to do - got our mortgage commitment, purchased a homeowners policy, etc. Today I get a call from our homeowner insurance agent to tell me that they did an "exterior" survey of the home, and that they found the roof to be in bad shape, with shingles practically falling off. We were told the roof was 10 years old, and, during our inspection, the engineer noted a few small issues, but nothing he found to be too much of a concern. I'm not sure why the insurance agency was calling us - how does this impact our policy, if at all? Also, do we have any recourse at this point? We are still waiting for a closing date and I feel like we are getting played. Any advice?

Weird thatthey would call you on that. it isn't like you are putting in a claim. did you ask if it is impacting the price they gave you?
Sorry the process is taking so long for you!

We have no experience in this area, but I did tell our agent that the roof was 10 years old, which is what we were told, so he had given us some "new roof discount" - that must be why. Didn't ask about impact to pricing, we just told him what we were told and what our engineer said.
