Sad situation with my friend
She just e-mailed me to tell me she lost her baby...it was so sudden and just happened this week. She was due in December so she was pretty far along. I am just wondering if I should send her something and if you guys think I should, what would be appropriate? TIA!

Re: Sad situation with my friend
I am sorry to hear of your friends loss How tragic for her to lose the baby with only a few weeks left to go (not that it's ever easy to lose a pregnancy)
Let her know you are there for her. Send her a card but also, bring her food. Help with her laundry. While visiting, try to do her dishes if she lets you. Does she have other children? Maybe offer to babysit while she mourns this loss.

Re: Sad situation with my friend
I will tell you what my friend told me...
she had a stillborn baby girl at 39 weeks about 1 year ago
once she mourned and came back to work (we work together), she told me if helped when people talked about and let her talk about her baby, Kennedy
it made her feel like people did not forget about her
I am SO sorry for your friend, what a devistating thing to go through

how devastating! i would call your friend to sympathize and see if there is anything she needs. maybe you could send something like a spa basket or something for to relax and take care of herself with.

Just heartbreaking. Ugh. The thing that I like to resort to in times like this is making food for them. It's the last thing you actually want to think about - but you still need to eat. I would make her a few meals - some ziti, quiche, chicken. Pick up some bagels so that she can freeze them.

So heartbreaking I am so sorry for her loss.
I agree with Diana...get some food for them and definitely let her know you are there for her. Friends need to stand by friends through good times but especially through bad. In the bad times you learn who really cares for you...and you obviously care for her...so be there in any way, shape or form.

Re: Sad situation with my friend
I never had experience with this, so I wanted to put something out there that maybe someone could answer...
Automatically, I am thinking of Christmas, and how she thought she would have her baby for the holidays
Maybe, do something for her now, but get her a special ornament at Xmas time in memory of the baby?
I am so sorry for her

I like it
Also, not sure where she lives but they have a memorial site at Eisenhower Park where you can buy a brick in memory of a child. www.angelofhope.com. we did this for a friend.

This is a beautiful idea. We also have a brick for our son at Eisenhower Park (Diana posted the website). They do a beautiful ceremony to remember losses from pregnacy, baby and child every year. We have brought both girls there to see our sons brick and it means the world to us. My sister bought an engraved heart with a beautiful poem on it. Maybe there is something on this site as well you may want to get? myforeverchild.com
