SAHM's - I am curious

How many of you actually end up staying home most of the time?

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

When I had just one, I almost never stayed home... Now that I have 2, there are days that I just don't feel like packing them up to go run errands but I almost always get out for a little while everyday, even if it's just to Target or something...

We are usually home until about 10am & then we're usually out & about until naptime. Somedays we even skip the nap if we're having too much fun or I need to get things done.Chat Icon
We have days once in a while where we hang at home, play in the backyard, but she & I both love to go out & do things!Chat Icon

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

DW takes DS to pre-K every morning, so she HAS to get out of the house at least for a while. DC also go to Gymboree, and library classes. She shops for groceries at least once a week, plus all of the other odds and ends. Unless the weather is absolutely miserable, and DS has off that day, she is always out of the house for a while.

I try and get out every day. It helps that I pick up my son from school at noon, so that often leads right into doing our errands or going to the park or a playdate. I try not to be home if I don't have to. Unless its crappy out, then he hang out here.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

I "stay home" when the weather's not so nice. Otherwise we're out walking, going to the park, feeding the ducks...we go to the aquarium once a week, have playdates, there's a nature conservatory in my town, so i walk there with DD and feed the birds. Oh and we have Music Together once a week.

And soon it will be BEACH TIME!! Chat Icon

Depends on weather/time of year. I'd say 50% of the time or less we are home.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

before I started babysitting, almost never.

right now josh and I are ready to go out and play, just waiting for Gavin to show.

Gavin is in such a routine, that I am trying to break. He naps way too much. Sometimes he will go down at 9 and sleep 6 hours straight! Those days, Leo will take Josh out so he's not stuck inside.

I created a monster in Josh. The kid is always dying to go out. He will leave with anyone that is willing to hang out outside with him.

So, I like to have them out from 9 till 12. eat lunch, they go down....once Gavin is picked up, I always go out with Josh again.

Either errands or the park...a walk.

Once its warm enough for real swimming we will never be home. Once Gavin's summer vacation starts, we will be out of this apt by 7:30 every morning.

RAIN days are nightmares in my householdChat Icon Chat Icon

I will take the boys to the mall play area...then we have a museum membership that we use.

The YMCA has a covered pavillion...last week, I had both boys in my arms and an umbrella, running across a soccer field in the rain to get to this place. But totally worth it.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

We get a late start on the day - usually leaving between 11 and noon. But then we are gone most of the day. If we don't have a planned activity (Gymboree, Music, etc.) I take DD and Scout to the park for a nice long walk - rain, snow, sleet, heat, whatever - we go.

DD now only naps in the car Chat Icon so that means we go out every day - even yesterday being so nasty, we wound up at Target.

I'm on maternity leave right now but we go out almost everyday. It is very unusual for me not to go somewhere with them.

it depends on what I need to get done. I don't get out as much as I'd like to.

I babysit until 3. I bought a double stroller and we are out walking everyday, depending on the weather.
After she leaves (around 3 or so), again, weather depending, DS and I are out running errands, at the park, or vistiing family/friends. I HATE crappy days. I hate being indoors and I think DS does too. He's happy outdoors.

I think I stayed in about 3 days in the past 11 months and that was because the weather was bad.

We go out every day- meet friends, shop, visit my parents, take a class or storytime.

I feel better when I get out.

We go out quite a bit during the week, to run errands, attend storytime, a playgroup, or for walks. There are many days when I don't use the car at all, but we get out of the house and walk somewhere. We are lucky that a lot of stores in our town are within walking distance.

It's rare that we are indoors all day. Last Friday was one such day, the rain was too hard, I hate driving around with DS when the weather is really bad.

If it is raining, we stay in. But if the weather is nice, we are out and about. I like to take Ry out for long walks. It is good exercise for me and he gets to breathe in fresh air.

I am out at least 3+ times during the week. If it's bad weather, we stay home. We go to the malls, the park now that it's nice, to my old neighborhood to walk with my Dad, or Target or some place like that.

At least once a day we're out- sometimes we go out pre- and post-nap. It depends on how long she sleeps.
Rainy days we either go to the library or the mall. We both get bored SAH.

We usually have things to do most days (swimming, playgroup, etc.), but I am a homebody and actually prefer to be home most of the time.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious

Well, I'm still bound somewhat to nap schedules so I only have small windows in which to get out. Also, it can sometimes be a REAL hassle to get out with the two, so I'll end up staying home. We stayed in ALL day Monday, so by yesterday I was going stir crazy and took them to Target in the pouring rain just do do SOMETHING...yuck!!

On a normal day, we are out between 10am-11am (For ex...we'll be going food shopping this morning) and then again between 1:45 and 3pm doing different things--for fun or for errands.

I am home most of the time. Dh takes the car during the week. I only go out if my sister or girlfriends invite me out.
