Re: SAHM's - I am curious
We go out every day unless it's raining. Whether it's shopping, gymboree, the park, walking, whatever - we are out.
When it rains - we are stuck here and miserable!

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
I am home a lot - it is long and boring.....When the weather is nice - we go to parks. My oldest son takes 3 classes so we go out for those. We set up playdates here and there but not many of my friends live close or are SAHM's. I don't have family near by that are home. I try to do a few errands here and there.
Honestly - my oldest is so hard to take places these days unless it benefits him and my baby is horrible in the car and in the stroller (will not sit in a stroller or car awake) and is a maniac - it isn't worth the battles. I come home more stressed and wonder why I did go out.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
I am very rarely home. DS generally naps for about 2 hours in the morning, today it will be from 10:30 - 12:30. After lunch, we will be out for the remainder of the day. Even a trip to the grocery store can be an adventure for us!

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
I have one DS, 26 months old, and I HATE being home! We try to be out every day, usually two times a day: Gymboree twice a week, sometimes meet up w/ other moms to do storytime at the bookstore, supermarket once or twice a week, usually a run to Target once a week, any assorted errands, etc. DS has a speech delay so we go to speech a couple times a week too. Plus now that the weather has been better at least some of the time, any halfway decent day involves us taking his new tricycle out for a stroll, or playing in the backyard.
Even on rainy days like yesterday, I don't stay home. I just hustle him into the car under my big umbrella and we can stroll the mall (I must say he's good about walking w/ me and holding hands most of the time), we stopped at Starbucks and I had a coffee and we shared a big cookie. Or we go to a Gymboree playgym (when they have the open play half-hr) or the indoor playground at Broadway Mall. ANYTHING to get out.
I think the only times I've been indoors ALL DAY in the past six months have been either a couple of icy/snowy days early in the year, and of course if DS is sick.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
It's very rare that I will be home ALL day..usually only if DS or I am sick do we stay in. For my own sanity I have to get out everyday, even if just for an hour (even on nasty weather/rainy days, out we go!)
We might not be out for long periods of time but staying in all day just makes for a cranky mommy and toddler

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
When Megan was younger, we stayed home a lot. So last winter we were home maybe 4 days out of the week. It didnt bother me too much because she wasnt all over the place.
But now..I HAVE to get out at some point every day. Even if its just right outside. Sometimes I will take her out ALL DAY to run errands and then we go to the park. Other days we will just walk to the local walgreens and 99 cent store just to get out. If I dont feel like getting all dressed, we go right outside..run up and down, push the doll stroller, play with the ball, she rides her bike or in her wagon.
The days we are stuck in ALL DAY..drive me insane now. Shes too big..gets bored too easily and just wants me to follow her all over the house.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
Sarah goes to school for a half day 3x a week. Other than that we play at home. It's just easier on my nerves, if we go to the park they run in opposite directions and it's hard for me to manage myself.
We have a ton of outdoor toys so we play out back a lot when it's nice. I do a lot of "projects" with my dd, painting, coloring, pasting, that kind of stuff.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
I'd say I get out every day w/the exception of the rainy days and the occasional days where I just don't feel like going anywhere (which is rare but they happen)...the day just drags if I stay home all day. If its nice out we do walks, lunch w/friends or visit w/friends that work, or shopping.

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
I've never done a playdate or classes with my DD (now 22 mos). And I feel terrible about it, especially since I don't have any friends with children her age nearby and most of my friends & family work or live out of state.
We used to go out to stores, food shopping, the park, my parents, but once I had DS (he's 2 mos), it made those tasks much more difficult. He doesn't last long in his carseat before having a fit. And since his carseat is his stroller, we're kind of limited. We've been to the local farm and parks, but we don't go regularly.
I recently joined some online groups with the hopes of getting out more. Hopefully my DS will become less fussy sooner than later.

I usually devote about 2 full days to house work and laundry and what not. Now that its nice out we are always out and about.. I just wish that I knew more children DD's age. There are no little kds/toddlers around me..

Re: SAHM's - I am curious
We were home ALL winter it feels like, but now that the weather is nice and I joined the gym to boot, we are out almost every day (park, shopping, playdates). If the weather is really crappy we stay home though.
