School bus
Does anyone know anything about bus rules.
I thought I had heard bus drivers are not allowed to make u turns or back up unless there is an emergency.
I am having a issue with the school bus and this is just another one that popped up today.

Re: School bus
I don't 100% all the rules, but we live in a cul de sac and our bus driver has no choice but to back up to make a turn. The people at the end of the street don't know how to park leaving the bus no other option, but to turn. Everyone else on the bus parks nicely, but the morons at the end who have about 7 cars and grown kids park their car all over. it stinks! Sorry, just had to vent. REally don't know all the rules.

School bus
It may b that they try to limit those things but it is impossible for them to not be able to do them completely.
My son gets a mini bus, we live on a dead end, my street is not wide at the end for the bus to turn around, my street is only about 20 feet wide in total. He has been getting a bus snce he was 2, so we have been doing this for 6 years.
I have had bus drivers pull into my driveway, no pull into my driveway, Back into the driveway, pick him up in the street, drop off in street, I do know that they can not be facing the wrong direction for the child they are picking up. So for my son they can not turn around before picking him up because he would need to walk out into the street around the bus.
But there is no way for the bus to not be allowed to turn around or back up. They need to do both to pick up my son.

Re: School bus
I thought there was a rule that they had to make a complete stop before going over railroad tracks as well.

Yes, and the open their doors to put out the stop sign/flash their lights. Opening their door and window allows them to have a clear view of whether there's an oncoming train.

I found info on backing up but not on u turns. And there are rules on backing up. They can’t just throw it in reverse.
