School schedule and going to Disney
I'm working with 3 different clients right now, all teachers in different states, whose contracts specifically say they can't add days off to a school holiday so they need to travel during the summer or longer holidays (spring or winter break) if they want to spend more than a few days at WDW.

School schedule and going to Disney
Is here a reson why you have to take jet blue? Try southwest, that is who we usually fly to FL, direct from Islip, and it has never been that much for Feb break. Though we do the rebooking thing.
DH is a teacher and he either takes a long weekend, taking 1 extra day off work or we go on breaks. A 3 day trip is better than no trip LOL Unfortunately, his birthday is in the summer, so we do go in the summer. This Aug will be the first time w.LO and I am DREADING the heat!!!

Oh no, I definitely don't have to fly jetblue. I was just being sarcastic.
What do you mean by the rebooking thing? Please share!

On Southwest, if the price of your flight lowers, you can rebook the flight and get the price difference as a credit. the credit expires one year from the date you first booked your flight (I think). Back before I got pg, we used to book a rebook and go a couple of times a year. But SW is all we fly to Orlando - you can fly direct from Islip, check 2 bags for free, and it is fairly cheap.

It's not fairly cheap anymore unfortunately. Their prices are atrocious! I did find $220 fares back in May, but we rescheduled our trip for the Summer, and the prices are ridiculous. Direct flights were like $260 each way. So I had to book with a stop. So annoyed!

Re: School schedule and going to Disney
Personally I would avoid the summer heat at all costs. But I despise the heat and always feel sick in it.
We went this past April over Easter. We were lucky enough to have air miles so we flew free, but some in our party got a decent fare on American.
It was crowded, but we got there at rope drop everyday and left after lunch. The older ones in our party went back in the evenings a couple of nights.
Initially I thought the trip was going to be a total disaster being that Easter is one of the most popular times. But we had no trouble getting on the rides we wanted to and really had a great time. And it was warm, but not boiling and humid like it will be in summer.

Re: School schedule and going to Disney
I figured I'd update since so many people ask about Disney.
We just booked flights for President's week. We're paying a lot, but it could have been worse.
We figured that there will always be one downfall - a) SD and I miss school, b) we die in the summer heat or c) we pay high prices. We decided on "c."
We thought the trade off was worth it for the nicer weather and the peace of mind of not missing school.
Now I need a good touring plan to make sure we get all the good sites in. I am going to be militant about getting everyone up early. They are going to need a vacation from me when we get home.
Thanks again for your input, everyone!
