Schools on lockdown?
If your kids school is on lockdown, do you ever get any real information after the fact? Other than a generic robo call from the district?

Re: Schools on lockdown?
Yes, they will usually send out a letter via email afterwards explaining what happened.

Schools on lockdown?
No, just a robo call and we have always just had commentary on the local FB group.

Re: Schools on lockdown?
Do you mean a drill or the real thing? For a drill, they send an email.
For the real thing: Emails and a series of Robo calls. Kids were evacuated to another school. Kids were not scared and thought it was a complex drill. Even dismissal was well handled. These drills actually work (and there was a system in place with buses to evacuate).

Yes, we get an email during and after, both with a good amount of info.

Re: Schools on lockdown?
We always get a robocall fairly quickly and then a follow up later in the day...this started for us when our superintendent was criticized on the school parent page for not being transparent...at the middle and high school level, students were notifying their parents and they were putting the word out well before the parents were notified and parents weren't happy.

I am talking the real thing, got a robo call that they were investigating a threat, then a robo call when it was lifted. Any real information I found out from the news later on...

In our case, we found out the nature of the threat while waiting to pick up kids at alternate site (a middle school) and then again by email (for everyone not at pickup). Some details were kept from parents (but not on news either)... as it turned out to be a kid who was being dumb. They protected the kid’s identity. I thought it was very well handled (being that I and friends have been in real situations). Of course, there was criticism about the speed of evacuation and response... and increased security afterwards (and then criticism about how that effects school access and pickup times for those who don’t have the bus).
