Sciatica??
Ok is anyone or did anyone else experience the horrific pain i am living with right now from sciatica? I feel crippled. I cannot sleep at night, as soon as i wake up to pee, i try to move and i feel like someone is giving me shock treatments in my left and right a$$ cheek that shoots down my legs. Even during the day if I get up from a chair too quickly, i get blasted with like 1000 volts of pain!!
Everyone tells me the baby may be laying on the nerve. I am going to die. Tylenol does nothing, and I really dont know what to do. Heating pads dont work, massages dont work... oh DEAR LORD PLEASE TELL ME THIS WONT LAST FOR THE NEXT 4 MONTHS!!!! JUST HAD TO VENT!!

Re: Sciatica??
I suffer from this on and off for the past 3 months...
Before I go to sleep...if the pain is unbearable I take tylenol and rub a little BENGAY on my back... it relaxs me enough to make me fall asleep... (however not stay asleep)
The pain is on and off...and its prob my number 1 complaint about pregnancy...
DH aunt does some crazy holistic crap... Im thinking of letting her use her little routine on me...its worth a shot!!

Re: Sciatica??
I have it too, but not as bad as you are describing.
I mostly get it when I wake up in the middle of the night to pee or when I get up after sitting for awhile.

Re: Sciatica??
I have gotten it on and off throughout the pregnancy but it got worse at around 25 weeks or so. At around 28 weeks it was UNBEARABLE so I went and had a pregnancy massage to see if it would help. For 2 days after the massage I think it was worse, and now it's been gone until the past few nights, and I'm 32 weeks now. I had maybe 2 weeks of real relief. It's not as bad now but coming back.
My recommendations, make sure you've got a good pillow thing going on. Pillows propped behind your back, between your legs, all that stuff. Experiment and use differnet pillows for different areas until you find what works.
I also found that the pelvic tilt exercises that my lamaze lady recommended we do to prepare for labor helped TREMENDOUSLY. They kinda stir up the baby and make it move. I always feel the baby move after I do them. If you need me to explain them to you, FM me. They help to change the baby's position if it is lying in a place that's uncomfortable for you.
I have the snoogle pillow too, and it $ucks for me. Maybe for some women it helps, but I prefer just using a few regular pillows. I think it got worse with the snoogle.
I also heard that alternating heat and cold packs on the area could help, but I haven't tried that yet since it's gotten better recently.
Good luck and hang in there! melissa

Yes i know what you are feeling and although I do have relief some days other days its horrible. Unfortunately its just another one of the joys of pregnancy.
