Sciatica
Those who are suffering, how are you dealing with it?
I'm in a lot of discomfort, do you think a prenatal massage would help? I take baths, sometimes even tylenol. I'm waddling all over the place because when my weight shifts to my right leg I'm in agony.
What else can I do?

Re: Sciatica
I would suggest going to a chiropractor. Make sure to ask if they've adjusted maternity patients before.

Re: Sciatica
The only thing I find that helps is rest. I try to lay on the opposite side to take pressure off the nerve. Other than that, I don't exercise anymore or do things like vaccuum becuase I know every time I do too much my sciatica gets really bad. I don't know if it helps, but I'm sure a massage wouldn't hurt! Some people say to put ice on your butt and heat on your back. I think ice works best.

Re: Sciatica
Sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps tremendously. Hope you feel better Jillian!

Re: Sciatica
I've been suffering for sciatica - so i totally know what your going through - its not fun.
I've used hot and cold compresses on my back - and like the other ladies have said - try to elevate your back and sleep with a pillow inbetween your legs at night.
I have good days and bad days - my best remedy so far has been to lay down and relax - when nothing seems to work.
feel better

Re: Sciatica
Thanks all. I do sleep with a pilllow between my legs, actually DH got me the Snoogle for Christmas so I started using that.
I will try the hot and cold compresses and will look into a chiropractor. I does it actually go away, or will it come and go? I have had it pretty bad for about a week and a half.

Re: Sciatica
Mine will come and go. I know there are certain things that will trigger it, so I try to avoid those things think back to right before you started to get the pain and try to figure out if you did anything different. I would not reccomend going to a chiropractor if you never have before. You don't want someone messing with your body while you're preggo. I have JT rub my back at night before we go to bed and this really helps a lot. good luck!

Re: Sciatica
when my dad was suffering from sciatica, the Dr told him there is nothing to do but wait it out.
You could try heating pad, the warm baths, sitting with your feet up. It does go away!
