screwed. Credit card double charge--NEED advice
I went to get a pedi last thursday. I gave them my credit card. Online my bank statement says 2 charges fo rthe pedi (equal amount). I don't have the receipt. how do I dispute the extra charge?

Are the charges done the exact day? If so, I would think its pretty obvious that it was an error.

I would call the place. That happened to me with another business, but they refunded me. It was probably just a mistake.

I have the same issue at times with charges appearing twice. One will be pending and released and the other one is the only actual charge that shows up. Do you have Bank Of America by chance? I would call and ask them about it but until it goes from pending to charged I don't think they can do anything about it.

Dispute it, I never had to show a receipt when I had that happen. (And mine happened with a mani/pedi too)

Put in a dispute with the bank. They might want you to contact the vendor first to have them reverse the charges.
If it is AMEX, they will investigate it for you. Technically, it is your word vs. theirs. They will need to show the CC company a signature on each charge slip with the approval numbers. You will def. get the money back

Your receipt isnt very important
(having one receipt wont prove you didnt get TWO pedicures)
What's important is THEY have to show proof that you signed for two pedicures.
You dispute it, its up for THEM to show proof.. and voila, its done.

You never signed for 2 charges....
So that's that.
Call the bank and dispute it....
They will definitely side with you!

We had a problem with Cheesecake Factory about a year ago...had dinner there and then found two charges on the credit card. I called AMEX (who by the way is great about these things) and told them that I didn't have the receipt but that only one charge was mine. They contacted the restaurant to request the signed receipt. The restaurant never got back to them so AMEX credited my account for the higher amount and just had me pay the lower charge (which really was mine anyway).
Definitely call and dispute.
