Seat Belts on buses?
First bus experience, so sorry if this is a silly question. What type of seat belt is on your child's bus and can a Kindergarten child buckle it? My DD1 has a pretty long bus drive. I was trying to find out whether I need to provide a car seat (she is still 4 and I think some places you need it under 5). Still don't know that, but the person I spoke to said there are seat belts, but the child needs to use it themselves. The bus driver can't help and parents aren't allowed on the bus. I'm sure DD can buckle, but if she needs to adjust it to her size, she wouldn't know to do that.

Regular buses cannot accommodate a car seat, so your answer to that is no, you don't need to provide one. Our bus has regular lap buckles, and I can say, from being behind school buses all the time, most kids don't wear them. They are bouncing from seat to seat, and standing up all the time!

This. I was nervous too- but my DD has a very short bus ride. There really isn't much you can do about it, unfortunately, other than drive them to school yourself

Seat Belts on buses?
Seat belts are required on school buses but not the use of them. I just had K bus orientation and the kids need to know how to use them. They are similar to say airplane belts.
I would try and teach her over the next few days if you are concerned.

Thanks. I can't think of anything I have to teach her with... Hopefully I can show her the first day.

Explain it the best you can. Maybe you can call the bus company and ask if you can bring her on a bus to practice?
I honestly never even thought about it this, guess I took for granted she could figure it out, but she also had older kids at her bus stopped that looked after her.

Seat Belts on buses?
My son has been taking a school bus since he was 2. Last year when he started K he was on the big bus for the first 2 weeks. He was able to do the seat belt by himself. The bus driver waited until he was buckled in. The driver also helped him the first 2 or 3 days. Then we switched to the mini bus and that driver absolutely helps him every day with his seat belt. It may depend on the driver.
