Sellers- question about negotiating price
We are buyers and currently in the bidding process. I'm just wondering, as a seller - do you get annoyed if someone is coming up in price but slowly - rather than a big jump? In other words, do you get tired of the game fast- know the amount you want and does playing the price game turn you off to that buyer?
We're going to go up in our offer, but we're just wondering how fast to move up w/o getting the sellers annoyed (thye have other offers, its just we're ideal buyers and can move at their time table). Thanks!

Re: Sellers- question about negotiating price
If this had happened while we were trying to sell, I can't say I would've gotten "annoyed", but if we had already countered your offer and you re-countered with something very close to your original offer rather than at least meeting halfway, it might have indicated to me that you weren't willing/able/serious enough to offer close to the price we wanted or needed.

I agree with this. however, it can't hurt to try to get the lowest price. but, what scares me in your instance is that there are other buyers. are you sure that's true? and how do you know that? i just worry that a REA is playing games wtih you...

Re: Sellers- question about negotiating price
If I were to counter-offer, and you counter-offered AGAIN and it was still not "THE" number that we needed to get, I think I would just tell my REA what THE number was and ask her to pass it along to you. That way there are no back and forth "games". You would know my bottom line and could either accept or walk away.

This is pretty much the point we're at with the buyers we're getting offers from.

You can say that again!
Thanks all - this is helpful. We don't know who to believe anymore, always skeptical of the REAs. I did go to the open house this weekend though and there were a lot of people there. We ended up going up - we said we'd meet them half way, so now we'll see what they say. Problem is they bought the house 3 years ago (for their son) at almost $100K more, so anything to them is a huge loss - not our problem, but still that's their thinking.
