semi or hi gloss poly on floors
To cont. with my last post. Do you think we should do semi gloss poly or hi gloss poly on our floors? What did you guys do and y? any pics??

I feel like super shiny would show scratches
Whoops- I read a post below and realized our floors are a satin finish. I'm sorry- pregnancy brain/ we have red oak floors with red chestnut stain and satin finish.

This is what we did too!
We did high. It's a pain to clean and keep shiny. It also shows the scratches.

Ours is satin. Hides a lot of scuffs and scratches,so it looks really good even years later.

We did high gloss. Love the shine and got a ton of compliments. But 2 years later, in the high traffic areas the shine is very dull now. So although I still love the look of the shine, I get annoyed every time I'm cleaning the floors and can see the difference from my living room to foyer!

This exactly. You can definitely see where its more worn out in the higher traffic areas. Although it did look really nice at first!

Just wanted to share that I use Re-New Floor Restorer. Easily restores the shine. Works great. I order it online.

I just had someone here to give an estimate, he said high gloss would be a mistake with kids and a dog because you will see every scuff and it would dull quicker in the high traffic areas like our entry. He said satin give a nice sheen and is easier to keep looking good. He said high gloss is easier for him to "install" but he would recommend satin...
