Seriously, the end can't come fast enough
I had a very frustrating meeting with a parent- long story- but the kid has lied about things I allegedly did/said. The mother has decided that I am unprofessional and concluded that I pick on her kid. And the dean told me later that the mother has instructed the kid to use her phone to tape anything I say to her for the rest of the year.

Phones are not allowed in NYC schools so if you see the student doing this I would confiscate it until the end of the school year.

Outrageous  I would absolutely say that any kind of recording device is not allowed and if the parent even threatens this, the kid shouldn't be allowed in school. Maybe I'm taking it a little far, but that is BEYOND intrusive to feel like you can't even say what you want to say!!

Thanks ladies. As much as I am angry, part of me wants to  because as DiamondGirl said, phones aren't even allowed in school and if she "got" me on something, I don't even think the principal would entertain anything that was recorded for that reason.
And honestly, I stand by EVERYTHING I have ever said to this child. She is frequently rude to me and I always answer her back politely. Of course, her mother thinks it's ok that her child is outspoken (aka rude.)

Omg thats horrible! Im sorry Parents always think their children are angels, when they really aren't! I cant stand that sometimes....they act like the teacher is just making it up

I feel like you are talking about a girl/parent in my school! We have the same exact situation and the parent is one of those problem parents!!!! So annoying!
