Settle a debate for me Update with question!
My mom says no matter what do not tell interviewers you are on maternity leave. DH says it is better to tell them than lie about it. What do you think?
For instance yesterday on an interview they asked me how long it took to get there from the city. I said I took the day off. DH said I just should have told them I was on maternity leave.
Do you think them knowing I have a brand new baby would prejudice them against hiring me?
Update: So when I go back for my second interview should a make a point to let them know I am on maternity leave...or only mention it if the subject comes up?

Re: Settle a debate for me
I just worry that they might find out you are on leave....It might be best to be honest, but very firm that you are definately committed to returning to work
I was told to take off my engagement ring @ interviews because it might send a getting married and having kids right away impression. I did take it off, but ended up working 8 years anyway!
Good luck! Tell us how it went

If it was me, I just would have been honest. They will end up knowing you took a leave if you end up with them, so Id just be honest. JMO

I would definately tell. What happens when they check your references? Obviously, they are going to know and I think it will only be a detriment not to tell.

I would be honest. They can't not hire you because you are on leave. Plus you plan on working in SEpt so it doesn't matter to them.

Re: Settle a debate for me Update with question!
They shouldn't ask you about your maternity leave b/c it's most likely considered an illegal question. Your familial status is off limits during interviews. You have a right to disclose this information and bring it up, but a potential employer should not initiate discussions about pregnancy, how many kids you intend to have, childcare arrangements, etc.

I wouldn't say anything....they obviously wouldn't ask you that question so why offer the info.
