Re: Shake A Paw - Lynbrook - Selling Mill Dogs

About a year ago we purchased my pug Abbey from Shake-A-Paw-Lynbrook. At first she was fine, just a normal little puppy. After having her for about 2 weeks, I noticed she was limping. So I took her to the vet and they said she would need immediate surgery, because her hip never formed the right way. I called Shake-A-Paw and they refused to pay for any of the vet bills and I wasn't going to bring her back there so they can just kill her or let her loose somewhere. So I winded up paying $3500 for her surgery. I really hope they get closed down. I have another pug from a different pet store and never had a problem with her. But I still notice Abbey's breathing is so much different then my other pug.

I bought my Bailey there and was also told he was from a breederChat Icon And he was on "discount" because he was getting older and if he didn't sell the salesman told us they would give him to the poundChat Icon Chat Icon We were so upset we bought him right away. How awfulChat Icon

ETA: How could I forget!! We had to bring Bailey to the vet soon after we got him because he had something wrong with his hip!!!! And they made us go to their vet which was a rip off and made us do all these things that didn't need to be done.

Chat Icon Chat Icon That's great that you were able to help her and that she got her $$$ back, but what about the dog?? Are they going to try to help him or are they going to put him to sleep???

I know that everyone is trying to stop the puppy mills and I totally agree. These poor animals have so many health problems, but what about the ones that were already born??? Are they just going to kill them all???

Re: Shake A Paw - Lynbrook - Selling Mill Dogs

i dont normally do these sights but my friend that is on here sent me this link and i had to get involved. I want to contribute in the banning of shake a paw in lynbrook. back in dec 2004 my parents and i bought a yorkie (emma) from there, she was there for 6 months and they said she was from budapest. (yeah right). she was so tiny and under nourished. The first week we had her she was hacking up a lung practically from kennel cough. the vet they are linked with bullshited us from the beggining. we took her to our vet right away and they told us all that was wrong with her, meanwhile the vet from shake a paw she she was in perfect health. she was so sick for weeks and her back legs didnt form knee caps properly after thousands of dollars later she is ok now at 3 yrs old. my mother went back to shake a paw at the time trying to fight them and they wanted nothing to do with us and just rubbed us off. these people are crooks. yes shame on us for buying from there but when we walked in and emma was sitting there with her tongue sticking out and no one even looking at her we had to give her a chance, now she is 12 lbs (they told us she was going to be under 6 lbs) but we dont care. she is the best dog and we love her with all our hearts. please keep me posted on further info you have on this case. i will glady help
thanks

With the most recent incident the puppy was gravely ill, more than likely parvo. It is my hope it received medical treatment immediately, as every minute counts. There is also the risk others were exposed or the puppy was exposed from another sickly puppy. The bottom line, these scenarios are an everyday occurence. Until the day comes when people will no longer support mills via purchases from pet stores this will continue. Organizations such as HSUS and the ASPCA are working towards putting an end to puppy mills, although it is an uphill battle, I do believe it will come to be one day.

I pray that day comes soon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
