Short Term Disability
Hey there. Does anyone know if you can get paid for being out on short-term disability twice in one year? Specifically, through Liberty Mutual.
Thx!

Re: Short Term Disability
Short term disability is for a total of 26 weeks a year. As long as you aren't out for more than that you can go out more than once. (After that I believe it'd be considered LTD)

Re: Short Term Disability
i may be confused bc last i looked into this was almost 2 years ago... short term disability varies based on your employer. DH had to go out for almost 2 months, and his company short term policy was 80 percent of his pay (or something like that). My company however does not offer short term disability, they just offer you the time on FMLA and the NYS pay which i believe is something like $175 per week

Re: Short Term Disability
STD differs based on your employer's specific plan. It's per injury/incident/procedure but if your one specific case goes past 26 weeks then it turns into LTD.
FMLA is an unpaid period of leave that guarantees you up to 12 weeks of time off to care for yourself, a sick family member or for the birth of a child. Once FMLA is exhausted in a 12 month period you can't use it again but this is completely different from STD.
You would have to ask your employer/HR department how their specific policy works.

Re: Short Term Disability
Ignore, I'm confused by disability and FMLA as usual.
