My dd was off baby food at around 11 months. She refused to eat it. She loves yogurt (she is 14 months now), and she eats everything we eat.

I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with it, but, at that age, my kids were on solids/table foods.
They still eat yogurt though.

IMO, no - but every baby is different.
Both of mine were on mostly table food by 9-10 months. They both do enjoy yogurt, but I don't equate that with baby food.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
My daughter still eats some baby food but not very often. she won't eat fruit unless it's pureed though so I would rather her get some fruit in the form of baby food than none at all. It's kind of odd though because i find it gives her very loose stools now. She just turned 14 months.

By that age my DD was on all table food and I only gave her a jar of baby food if I didn't have any fruits or veggies in the house. I used them as a supplement to table food.

At almost 14m, my DS still has stage 2 veggies & fruits almost every day. That's in addition to table food though. He loves bananas and carrots but if we don't have any in the house, he happily eats the puréed stuff.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
I should have clarified. My nephew has 3 meals a day consisting of a full jar of stage 2 baby food a bowl of baby cereal and a yogurt. He gets table food here and there but not everyday. He has at least 8 teeth. I just feel like this could cause him to have issues with food???

I don't think so, all my kids were eating table foods at that age for a few months.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
I agree with "every baby is different"
My son was on baby food a little over a year because he had a horrible gag reflex and would projectile vomit most solid foods. At 4.5, he still pukes a few times a week or month.
He was usually able to hold down the baby food pretty well. But not stage 3 - that was too chunky for him.
ETA: I just saw your other post. Maybe he refuses to eat most solids and they're just trying to get him to eat SOMETHING.

The thing I would wonder about is if maybe he has a fine motor delay and is unable to pick up finger foods. Perhaps that's why your sister or SIL is not giving him as much table food. My son did not like to eat finger foods and did not like to feed himself and now at 3.5 he is receiving OT for a fine motor delay. It was difficult for him and I enabled him to avoid it by feeding him for a very long time. You might want to gently encourage your sister or sister in law to try more table food but generally I don't think people are very receptive to comments about their parenting.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
Every kid is different. Personally, I had my kids off purees and baby food at 8 months, but they could handle it. I know many babies who had a strong gag reflex until well after a year or were sensitive to the textures of table food.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
i still had jack on some jar foods and oatmeal / yogurts b/c he wasnt too interested in solids yet. i started using the gerber graduate meals after that for a while and he liked the raviolis and pastas.
he was picky that way.
i have a friend whose daughter is going on 3 and still has to eat some jar foods b/c certain textures she wont eat.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
it could just be that that's the only thing he will eat. My DS was a great eater, but recently he refuses pretty much anything but purees and cereal. He just got his molars and I'll try to give him table food, he shakes his head no, it ends up on the floor and then I'll give him baby food to get him to at least eat something. Honestly I wouldn't judge if you don't know the back story.

DD started finger foods at 8.5 months, and was refusing to eat anything off a spoon by 9 (except yogurt, which she loves and has every day). But like PPs have said, every baby is different.

same here at 13 months no teeth and still on yogurt and baby food, even oatmeal... but we do give her some table foods like mashed potato, small pieces of chicken, cheese, turkey, pasta, cream cheese on soft wheat bread, whatever we eat.

I don't think this is a question of "should" or should not. Every child is different. I'm not sure what you are asking. I think at this age some kids are and some kids are not and they all end up ok in the end. By the way, this is per my ped.

Re: Should a 13 month old still be eating mostly 2nd stage food, baby food and yogurt?
My firstborn was on half tablefood/half jarred food at 13 months, my middle baby was fully on tablefood by 13 months, my third baby had a harder time with tablefood and was on lots of jarred food and yogurt at that age. At 15 months he's now on tablefood and yogurt/cereal.
Maybe you should ask if you're curious.

Maybe he does have a problem and her SIL just doesn't want to share it with her.
